Lol With that said let me tell you: Why 5 Stars? I know I've been throwing a bunch of 5 star reviews out lately but honestly some great games have been released. This is one of them. First I want to say you can't have a better development team. There were several rounds of testing and at every single step they listened to criticism and requests and implemented so many of them. They changed the in app purchases to make them better. They drastically changed the gameplay and added so much depth. They really did listen and they would immediately respond to every message. So the game is a side scrolling Shoot'em up that isn't just a simple Shoot'em up. You have power ups. You have character and power up upgrades. You have reward boxes that give you stuff like currency and power ups. You have currency which is used to upgrade everything and buy power ups and you can purchase an IAP to double the currency. I purchased it. It's worth the money. The gameplay is fast and intense. The amount of enemies and mini and large bosses is pretty decent. It's not meant to be too easy. The on screen controls are done really well. I like the default sensitivity. I cannot recommend this game enough. When you put all of the components together it's really a fun 5 star experience and I know this dev team is dedicated and already plans on more content. Only gripe is that I would prefer some kind of visual joystick type control. It seems like you can tap and hold anywhere to move the character but I would still prefer some kind of "locked in place" control mode. And a side note is that the text doesn't fit under the app icon unfortunately. Now the 1.0 release is out and they actually put all the content in and fixed all the bugs, the end result is a joy to play. They FINALLY implemented the movement sensitivity options with no problem and I find myself more comfortable at 2x and 3x sensitivity. To the devs (and their spokesperson Passion), thank you for letting me take part in the testing process. I can see where the feedback of us testers influenced the final design, and I feel the game is better for it. So onto the actual game for everyone else: it's a horizontal shmup as you can see. The main highlights are smooth and polished animations, great art direction and a fast pace that's suited for short mobile sessions. You go through a stage and then fight a randomly selected boss, and each boss encounter itself is treated as a time attack separate to the score counter of the whole run. There's costumes to unlock, skills to upgrade and buddies that act as temporary power ups. Stuff is now unlocked via getting the required materials that drop randomly from enemies. The requirements have been adjusted since the beta and seem fair after a couple of runs, though I question why costumes now require only one type of material that is only found in boss chests (and funnily enough, I've been getting more extra lives in these chests when I want the costume unlocking material). Also I finally encountered the dragon boss again and it looks like you guys changed the paper projectiles to be more noticeable, thanks! I'd say as it stands now, the game is great fun. It's the kind of game you can whip out and play for a bit anywhere, but challenging and engaging enough to hold your interest. Lots of unlockables to encourage replayability and lots of variety in the gameplay. You'll face a random boss each stage each run and you'll challenge yourself to beat your best time. At this point I'm just looking forward to new content in future updates, as the base game is solid and seems well suited to adding more bosses/costumes/buddies/areas on top of it. IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO NEW PLAYERS: - NOT ALL BUDDIES ARE EQUAL! The first two you get suck, but some buddies actually act as playable characters that have their own health bar and abilities (limited by a timer). - Different costumes have different skill attacks and upgrades, and thus are worth unlocking and upgrading. - You can change the movement sensitivity the the options. I know the default movement is fine for most but I prefer increasing the sensitivity and having both X and Y axis movement be the same. Only voluntary ads.
