Oh I'm so giving this a go. But I have to say I HATE portrait only games. Seriously. It's not do bad on the iPhone, but it's craptastic on the iPad. andsoitgoes Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2010 2,673 58 48 In a van, down by the river! #4 andsoitgoes, Apr 7, 2012 Wait. More consumable garbage. Deleted and I'll have to seriously consider what I'll rate it, if anything. Damn I hate the new app store! undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,493 2 36 Houston, TX #6 undeadcow, Apr 7, 2012 Last edited: Apr 7, 2012 It's similar to a board game in that there's a map/board your character moves around within a certain nunber of turns and that combat is handled by dice rolls. It's like a RPG in that emphasize is in workd exploration (you have to find 7 hidden vials of goo using hints from one location to the next), character customization (level up, equipt items/skills), optional side quests, and turn based combat. In addition to the full game unlock IAP that was reduced to $0.99 there is some additional optional consumable IAP; for example the reroll pack let's you cheat by voiding a bad dice roll and it's harmful effects by rerolling. Maybe you can sense if these consumables were abundant it would break the game by defeating any challenge/appeal. If you get the $0.99 unlimited turns IAP you will have the full game. andsoitgoes Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2010 2,673 58 48 In a van, down by the river! #7 andsoitgoes, Apr 7, 2012 You can also buy in game currency along with the rerolls. I know. I know. "just dont use them". No. It's not thst simple, honestly. It's the idea behind it. There I no place for this here in this kind of game. Sigh. I hate compulsory IAPs but here it's just an optional way to cheat for the lazy or uninitiated. For example, you earn money in game so need not IAP anything. andsoitgoes Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2010 2,673 58 48 In a van, down by the river! #11 andsoitgoes, Apr 7, 2012 I buy a lot of games from developers who put a lot of effort into their games, and I'm happy to support them. I know you earn money in game, but the currency you earn is nothing in comparison to what can be purchased. And as for the rerolls, every turn you have the ability to just "roll again". Both of these things while optional are there to prey on impulse buyers. You can't earn money to buy rerolls, so the only way to get them is with real money (and it's TERRIBLY expensive at that). Maybe if you could purchase them without real money, then I wouldn't be as offended by this, but at the same time this kind of pricing model has no place in games like this (let alone games at all, but that's another story). IAP is designed to expand gameplay, or at least that was how it was set out to be. Using it for this, or mojo, or smurfberries serves no purpose but to get people who are a little too impatient to waste their money. Again. And again. And again. Now if there was a one-time purchase model here, then I'd probably be singing another tune, that to me is a more supportive model. That's a "hey, here's a way to give the devs some money" while it could be adjusted to be supportive rather than game breaking. I give up though. I will never, ever get or agree with consumable IAP. I may be very Gabrien in this mindset, but I honestly believe even in a situation like this it feels slimy. To be able to buy a perfect game? There are no limitations. I could create a godlike game if I just spent enough money. It's like having monopoly include IAP to Reroll, it goes against the nature of the game. Especially with something like this. And I'm most upset because of the potential I saw here. Sure, as you've said it's not compulsory, but in the later game is that as true? When the challenge ramps up, there's not the chance that the game hobbles you if you don't use money to buy items or rerolls? Maybe not, but why else would something so weird for the genre be put so readily accessible and prevalent in this game?
