Palfince Well-Known Member Dec 30, 2008 1,817 0 0 England #9 Palfince, Oct 27, 2009 I'm actually very questionable whether developers would make a very high percentage like this up. While I doubt developers would, it does seem like a good way to get publicity and get people to buy your game in order to fight the piracy. salsamd Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Nov 1, 2008 1,841 4 0 San Francisco, CA #10 salsamd, Oct 27, 2009 That logic might work for a $0.99 app, or even a $1.99, or $2.99 app (questionably). IpodLady Well-Known Member Jun 12, 2009 1,185 0 0 Washington State #13 IpodLady, Oct 27, 2009 Exactly. Usually, the lower priced apps are from the indie devs who need to spread word of their game to get more folks to buy them. The pricier ones by the larger devs dont need to do this, and thats why you never see the larger devs here giving out promo codes. Either your gonna buy the $7 apps or your not, depending on the type of game and the dev. HardcoreEricXXX Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2008 1,045 3 0 Virginia #14 HardcoreEricXXX, Oct 28, 2009 Fishlabs is just using this as a publicity stunt. Tonight I was gaming with a friend who is reluctant to pay for games, and pirates on a usual basis. I was playing rally master and he was intrigued and headed off to the place you pirate games from. He downloaded the game and after playing the first two levels and the first repair mini game, a pop up message appeared saying "please don't pirate our game, click here to buy" or something similar. He proceeded to download it from another source, and got the same message after the same mini game. I'm all for stamping out piracy, but I think fishlabs inflated those numbers to get a lil plublicity. They obviously have a good system in place to combat the problem. I have a feeling that there were multiple downloads for one device, appearing as if there were a whole lot more people pirating their game than there were in reality. loves2spoon Well-Known Member Sep 22, 2009 2,348 3 0 Sales California #15 loves2spoon, Oct 28, 2009 i played the pirated version on my friends ipod and there was no message. show pics. Maybe it's because I'm not in high school anymore? I'd say dev's probably have a better percentage than the music industry. HardcoreEricXXX Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2008 1,045 3 0 Virginia #19 HardcoreEricXXX, Oct 28, 2009 I'd actually like to ask that some dev provide solid proof that 95% of their distributed apps are pirated without the chance of multiple copies being downloaded by a single device.
