    Hi
James from Robots Vs. Wizards here!

UPDATE 8-1 added demo / walkthrough video of a nearly completed version and the final is now done.

I love shooters like R-type and Super Turrican. I have always wanted to make a shooter but I think there are just so many already.
The idea actually came across while playing air hockey. I love the fact you can just fire it up and play. I thought it would be fun to add that kind of two player quickplay to a space shooters

Thanks for checking this post out.

Please let me know what you guys think or if you have any suggestions!

    Thanks!

Well i have almost finished up a few more multiplayer maps.

I know I will release a free version with one multi map for sure.
Even one map should be a good demo since it is a two plater game.

I might release the free version first to get some feedback

    Anyways just a development update

    thanks for checking it out!!

Update on development and launch time

Been a week or so since the last update.
Finally have an official name. StarPilots VS
The VS is of course for versus meaning two player.

The game itself is pretty much done. Its just a matter of doing the title screen art and little bit of menu / UI stuff to make it flow. However as I start to pour hours upon hours into this I cant help but see the possibility of a great one plater game too. But thats something else I'll hold off.

I think the possibilities of a July launch is very very possible.
At least maybe the "lite" version first.
I like releasing lites first because it almost acts like a beta (which apple doesnt like, or we woudl call them betas).

But for Us indie devs its nice to get some feedback from the people that actually play and pay for the games for the final version.

    Looks very cool!

And I think releasing the lite version first is probably a good idea. I know of a few games that did that (iFighter as an example) and became huge successes.

I tend to agree with you on a lite first. Especially on a mulitplayer game where this is more playtime from even just one level. There are games that have been a success from releasing a lite version first and I think that getting the feedback from players is a huge part of that.

Just added a preview video finally and the game is now finished.
The video is from a nearly completed version and there are some changes. Mostly the title screen.

    Video looks good.

Have you thought of putting some randomly spawning power ups (weapons, bomb, or shield etc)...perhaps in a future update. Maybe make it so you could turn on/off power ups if you don't want to play with them.

Coop mode against a strong ai would be cool too!

    Yes I agree

I had made and tested one power up.
In regular play you have limited ammo that recharges.
I was toying with the idea of something like a 5 seconds of unlimited charges.

I ultimately decided to skip it for now just because my whole basis for the game in the first place was: instant pickup and play an a zero learning curve much like hockey or something. Just a different theme and game mechanics entirely.

Some people will likely think its too simple but given the amount of variety on the app store i hope many will appreciate it's simplicity.

However if the game does well I am open to anything.

But, then again if it does well that may be of a more reason to not change it...

I do LOVE the idea of coop though!
