Just curious. Are there any game you know that did not sell well, too over hype or not given good review that caused the developer to disappear or quit making games? with so many new games everyday, do you think good old games like Rolando still have a share in the market?
I thought that Tilt to Live should have been the greatest thing since sliced bread, perhaps achieving Doodle Jump or Angry Birds status. It's still highly acclaimed but for me, this game got everything right.
Rolando. HUGE amount of hype over that game. Hype to the point that nothing could live up to and it didn't sell well. That's why they haven't updated it in forever. The same goes for about every ngmoco game until recently. They seem to be holding back news about upcoming games to tone it down a little. Early one, though, there would be all kinds of obsession around here and when they didn't get the greatest, longest, most advanced game ever created (for $.99, of course) they got pissed and gave bad reviews and bad mouthed the games on here.
how do older games like Rolando get noticed by gamers on iDevice? there are so many games now, is very hard to find them. i think apple should have its own game event just like for music for ipod / mac
I didn't knew Rolando didn't sold that well. I have played the demo and it's a great game I haven't buy yet. I have read it's a clone of a console game but well I don't care. I was expecting an iPad release but I know now I'll most certainly won't get any. Topple is also a great game from ngmoco. But their catalog is full or boring social games. I suspect those two games suffer from this. They get no interest from players of social games, and players for such games look at their catalog of social game as boring stuff and this could tarnished the image of those 2 great games. EDIT: Well when I sort by popularity, Topple is top one in they catalog (it's a free game like many of their social games). And Rolando is top one of their paid games in their catalog. So well.
Yeah, I think " game dev story" game is a bit underrated. That game is awesome and not on e the top 25.
Warfare Inc is one that is underrated. Despite it's (now) lackluster graphics, it's still one of the best rts's in the app store.
Agree with all the Tilt to Live comments. Another game that I love as a casual gamer is "Juggle!". It was the Open Feint free game a while back but I had been playing long before then. Perhaps it's just too old school, who knows.
I'm pretty sure Rolando did great; it was Rolando 2 that kinda bombed. And it really sucks because Rolando 2 is STILL one of the greatest iOS games. It improved on everything in the first game, as if much at all needed fixing. It's telling that being one of the first substantial games for the iPhone, Rolando and it's sequel are still so incredible. They hold up against anything coming out today extremely well. It's a crying shame we probably won't see a third game.
I think You are missing the point..... & Still the price drop!? I am not upset, at all infact I just posted this on the RR thread
