Well in my opinion, I really enjoy it when a game sends me good wibes, a darker art work does'nt do that for me, nevertheless, if the game is good and fun, I will play it even if it is darker!

The cutesy stuff is especially ill tempered; really, have the considered the ripple effects here? There's nothing wrong with niche quirkiness but when every game out there is sunshine and big eyes then that's a world I don't want to live in.

Retro and zombies are appropriately non-cutesy. We need to stand united against puppy dogs and rainbows; quit splitting the party.

What you need is a heavy dose of beer, a bottle of anti-self-insecurity, a larger budget to spend on $60 PS3 games instead of $0.99 iPhone apps, and some women.
"Omg I'm so cool I hate cute things and anything cartoony, bring on all the violence and gore and 18+ things".
Yes I'm sure Dead Space, Doom Res, Rage, Real Racing 2, Overkill, and all the massive 3D games released are "cute" and "animmie" if that's even a word.

Well, you've still gotta realize this IS a forum, and that other person has the right to wish for whatever he'd like to see. There's so many choices and genres in the app store, though, you can easily find something you like (unless it's porn), so there's no real reason to complain about too much of this and not enough of that. Such a wide variety. If a person doesn't personally care for one thing or the other, don't buy it! Keep looking and find whatever it may be! Remember-'different strokes for different folks'!

I don't think cute is the problem, it's just good and bad, original and unoriginal. There are plenty of crappy-looking dark and gritty games on the App Store too. The trouble is, they're developing for mass audiences, and right now the mass audience is the one that likes cute games.

Anway it's a good job you posted this where every single app developer can see it. /sarcasm

Are you a game Dev? I'm not, but I'd assume gameloft quality graphics are hard to achieve if you are a company of only a few people. Also cute obviously sells. Want gritty, gory full 3D games? Get an xbox/ps3 and get killzone/gears/halo/god of war.

The market is driven buy what customers buy. If most customers buy cute games , then cute games will be made by the millions. When blood becomes the normal everyday fetish , then bloody games will be made. Until then PSP and PS3 will fill your blood thrist.
    Blood lust games
    DeadSpace
    Alive4ever
    Zombienieghborhood
    Zombie Infection
    Resident Evil 4
Play those while you wait for the bloody revolution.

between you and me and him and her and him - cute sells. what REALLY sells an app is art style. game itself is secondary. come on, you think angry birds was the first of its kind? but it sure is cute :) !!
