In a medieval kingdom, you must scout out resources and hazards to decide where to build your mightiest castles. Commit too soon and you might discover a tribe of ogres right next door, but commit too late, and your opponents will grab up all the real estate! Six different opponents, each with their own personality, challenge you at a variety of difficulty levels to make the game very replayable. Kingdoms is built on the same successful MobileEuroCard platform that was used to create Reiner Knizia's High Society and Reiner Knizia's Money. Simple gestures allow you to grab and move tiles. Everything is animated, for a colorful play experience. This newest version uses Game Center for leaderboards and achievements. We plan multiplayer play for a future release. However, I LOVE Knizia games, and actually do pretty well at them (except for Samurai dammit). This looks like another winner. epedemix Well-Known Member Aug 25, 2009 505 0 0 #5 epedemix, Oct 25, 2010 Hell yea, i love me some knizia games. Another great board game. As far as Multiplayer, I have not seen any option for anything besides single-player. So there seems to be no multiplayer at the moment, strictly a single player game as it stands now. mrbass Well-Known Member Oct 7, 2008 2,210 0 0 United States of America http://mrbass.org/iphone/bestgames #9 mrbass, Oct 25, 2010 Well it doesn't have hotseat (suck an egg). Oh well. You can play only AI opponents so either 2, 3 or 4 player game. I wish you could tap the score screen and then view the board so you could see the calculations at the end. Helps if I'm trying to explain the scoring to my kids for instance. Oh well looking forward to Modern Art (oh please have hotseat for that one) even if it requires tapping on hiding our money and cards from the other players. Also two from Michael Schacht...I'm hoping China (aka Web of Power) is one of them. Drucifer Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2010 1,568 1 38 Canada #10 Drucifer, Oct 25, 2010 This is great news. It does kind of suck that there is no hotseat or online but maybe they will add them in the future, if not online then hopefully at least hotseat for all the iPad owners. We should be seeing Reiner Knizia's Ra hitting the App Store soon too. I think the devs (who also did Medici) said they were hoping to have it available by Halloween. The one sign of hope is that Money, High Society, and Kingdoms are all based off the same engine. As the dev continues to use the same engine; benefits can be shared across them. So if hotseat comes to Kingdoms then I'd expect to see it in Money and High Society as well. The price (3.99) is high in my opinion. That price point is just a dollar short of games like carcassonne, samurai, uno, and blockus; which have internet based multiplayer and a dollar more than neuroshima hex which at the least has hotseat. Also, Ra is shaping up really nicely. It's based off the same engine used in Medici so it feels familiar but they (codito) took the time to add some great polish and effects. I may not use the feature often but knowing that if I have a friend that would like to play, or even learn to play, I can start a 2 player game is more valuable to me. I'm not exactly hurting for knizia games so I'll just wait and see on this one. I've never heard of it which I suppose is why it doesn't have the "MUST HAVE" quality of something like Money or High Society KoolKing Well-Known Member May 17, 2010 309 0 0 Valrico, FL #16 KoolKing, Oct 25, 2010 I also play single player. With all my board game adaptions I have not once attempted to try multiplayer. However in this genre of gaming I think local multiplayer is a must. I can understand not setting up an online infrastructure and the hassles that entails but board game adaptations should be available for people to play as they would the original physical game. I know next to nothing about programming but as devs already have the game in place I don't think it should be too hard to add an option that simply removes the AI. sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,712 1 0 Indiana, USA #17 sizzlakalonji, Oct 25, 2010 For those interested, here is a brief description of the board game. http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9518.phtml VeganTnT Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 19, 2008 4,491 3 0 Freelance Entertainment Analyst Orlando, FL #18 VeganTnT, Oct 31, 2010 Played this on a friends device to learn how to play and decide if I would like it...
