Bad lag, and horrible controls, with the developers telling gamers that the controls are "easy" in their last update. =o/ awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #5 awp69, Nov 4, 2011 Thanks, don't think I'll delete anything to make room for it either. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #6 syntheticvoid, Nov 4, 2011 lol, yeah, horrible lag on my 4th gen, I don't think you'd hit 5 fps on your 2nd... =oP awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #7 awp69, Nov 4, 2011 Probably. It's ashame though. I don't think there are any really decent mech games on the iOS (other than some DSS that have 'em in them). syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #8 syntheticvoid, Nov 4, 2011 Destroy Gunner... =oP I know it's a bit expensive, but it's an awesome game. Nice game! I clicked 'optimize' thing which removed all scenery except for the terrain texture and the game is running just fine on my iPhone 4. No hiccups, no lag, quite a smooth experience. Though the draw distance is very short and gameplay is very chaotic. I have no idea how I or where I'm taking damage from. The autolock function also does not appear to function at all. Overall, a pretty nice mech game. The graphics are quite capable though not attractive by any means. The lack of scenery objects after optimization however, kinda reinforces an open arena kind of feeling. Not saying that's bad by the way. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #12 syntheticvoid, Nov 4, 2011 hmm... I never saw an 'optimize' button in the game?? Maybe it was just added? Looks like I'll have to re-download this one and see how it runs after clicking it. =oO Thanx for giving it a shot gun... I don't think I would have, as it doesn't say anything about it in the "what's new" section of itunes. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #13 awp69, Nov 4, 2011 Interesting, probably won't help my 2G as much, but maybe I'll give it a download anyway. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #14 syntheticvoid, Nov 4, 2011 wow! Yup, definitely helps the lag. Pretty much non-existent now! THANK YOU gunx! =oD Now let's see what this game is made of (FINALLY) And yes... that optimize button is new... **edit** should also say... with the lag gone... the game controls pretty well. A LOT better than when the lag was HORRID. The lag effected the feeling of the controls, and everything else, but now, the controls are pretty damn good. =oD Soooo... what I said earlier... I guess forget it... unless you have a 4S or iPad 2 (which will probably play this with FULL graphics on), the 'optimize' button should fix the lag, making the controls and gameplay pretty damn nice. =o) awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #15 awp69, Nov 4, 2011 Game runs pretty smoothly on my iPod 2G after pushing the "optimize" button. But I'm still not that impressed. SV's earlier suggestion of Destroy Gunner definately is more fun IMO. Of course, you're talking about free vs. $8.99. I'm not sure how long the free version of Destroy Gunner lasts, but think I'm going to stick with that for my Mech fix until I can get another iTunes card or there's a sale. This game isn't bad, but it just feels lacking without any environment and still little camera control. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #16 syntheticvoid, Nov 4, 2011 the free version of DG will last a while... I think it has unlimited waves you can just keep going through, but only a couple of environments... the full version is quite a bit different, and has actual missions and bosses... but yup... free version is still more than I expected it would be. =o) awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #17 awp69, Nov 4, 2011 Last edited: Nov 4, 2011 I guess with no real "environments" once you put on the optimize button with this, it kind of hurt its appeal to me. But I also really like the controls in DG. Not so much with this one. I'm sure I will get the full version of DG eventually. Oh, and there is at least one mission in the free version of DG. Not sure if that's all, but it's pretty cool and clobbered by the boss at the end. Anywho, different strokes for different folks so maybe others will like Robots Sky better. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #18 syntheticvoid, Nov 5, 2011 yeah, by the 3rd level, I was done with it... deleted. Was really hoping it would be better... the controls are alright, but the auto-aim seems to screw with ya, and with the extremely short draw distance, it's almost impossible to tell who's really firing at you... Oh well... maybe it'll get better with some updates in the future... but for now, I'm sticking with Destroy Gunners as my main mech fix. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #19 awp69, Nov 5, 2011 This was exactly my thoughts as well. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #20 syntheticvoid, Dec 9, 2011 free again (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
