I have a suggestion to devs: could you please add game speeds (like difficulty levels that can be changed in mid-game). Snake mode takes a long time to "heat up" thank you! Capsizing Heart Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 316 0 0 Student. Transient. #16 Capsizing Heart, Jul 28, 2011 I played through each mode a couple of times (partly because I wanted to give a good first impression and secondly cause I was having a lot of fun and thirdly because sometimes I had no idea what I was meant to be doing) before bed last night and at first I was ready to just delete it, all control schemes take a while to get used to. I think you HAVE to play it vertically or the directions blow your mind. Also the control scheme thats probably opposite of what you're comfortable with will probably work the best for you. I expected to be using the tap one, since that is what I use in other games, but found myself most comfortable with the swipe controls, which I'd never normally use. HOWEVER. And a big however. Once you get used to the controls, the game is TONS of fun. There are loads of different game modes and each one almost works like a difficulty level, since some are relatively easy like Snake or Dead Line but others like Survival get really hard as time progresses and I couldn't even work out what I was meant to do in the Pinata mode. Even so, the fact such a simple (seemingly anyway) game can create so many unique game modes is really refreshing. Also, for such a simple looking game, Lionel's and the other pilots bits of dialogue add loads of character and sometimes get a few laughs. My only complaint about this is when the screen is getting really heavy, sometimes the dialogue takes up valuable screen viewing room. chess Well-Known Member Jun 17, 2011 436 0 0 #17 chess, Jul 28, 2011 I use the swipe controls as well, and yes, I agree this is fully badass. I mostly play survival, and it perfectly blends gameplay elements of Snake, Pac-Man, and Geometry Wars...amongst other things. I also agree that those lines have more personality than 99% of actual video game characters. Very clever writing that is actually context sensitive to what's happening in the game...like when you kill the same color line multiple times, it responds accordingly. I can't emphasize enough how many of you should give this guy a buck! caanerud Well-Known Member Mar 28, 2011 998 0 0 #18 caanerud, Jul 28, 2011 Meh. I almost bought this one when it released thanks to the heavy praise and good reviews, but then I thought, "It's just a Snake game, with a little Tron-bikes thrown in." And then I downloaded it for free, and everyone is acting like it's an amazing game, but I remain unimpressed. The swipe controls do work very well, however. flameon Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2011 1,172 0 0 #19 flameon, Jul 28, 2011 its impressive because of how the visuals and witty remarks make the game more unique and special than just the regular Snake. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #20 MidianGTX, Jul 28, 2011 Probably because Tron games are popular, Snake games are popular, and iOS has never had a definitive version of either. Hard Lines nails both of those and adds a load more modes on top with some excellent retro-minimalist graphics and a ton of humour. There's nothing not to like.
