OMG. I frigging loved those movies. Havent watched them in the last decade or so though. Now I gotta see them again. Dunno how the game will turn out to be but thank you backflip for reminding me about Evil Dead =============== http://toucharcade.com/2010/09/16/army-of-darkness-game-coming-hail-to-the-king-baby/
AoD is by far the best of the trilogy! If they can get Bruce to do voicework on it that'd be awesome!
This announcement is the best idea for a castle defense game I've heard yet! But I'd imagine getting Bruce to do voicework for the game would probably cost more than making the game itself (I know because I wanted him to do a promo for my Necronomicon game, but they didn't think my offer was worth consideration). But I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with this too.
Because Bruce is such a huge star There has actual been talk of a fourth Evil Dead movie in the future where Bruce would reprise his role as Ash, so I don't think its unreasonable to think he may do some voice acting for a game based on the movie that made him famous!
Well he does have a steady job now on one of the best shows on tv. I'm pretty sure he would do it if asked though b/c he's always embraced his roll as Ash and his cult classic hero status.
But when I ask 10 people if they know who he is, even after saying "y'know, Sam, from Burn Notice!" I get blank stares from at least 7 of the 10. I'd agree with a steady job, hell I'd say he is tied for my favorite actor. But a big star? Eh, I could be convinced but right now I'm not. I'm hoping you're right, because that would make the game even more insta-buy then it is now!
Army of Darkness is such a classic... must've watched that movie like 20 times back in the day. Really hope they can capture the essence and unique comedic feel of the movie in the game without being corny or forced. Never-the-less I'm excited to see some screens or more info.
These games have been made before. There are two or three Evil Dead games, spanning the Playstation and Playstation 2 era. It has been a while, which isn't surprising. Army of Darkness has to be like 17 years old or something. I didn't look that up. It's just a top of my head estimation. It's been 15-17 yrs since the last Evil Dead movie.
The PS2 game was pretty wretched, though still amusing because of the voice-work. I'm hoping that Backflip doesn't coast on the natural appeal of the property and actually deliver a decent game.
