Try the iTunes search features. If you go to the Games category under the App Store tab, and scroll to the bottom of that page, you'll see a panel titled More Games on the right. Let's say you're looking for a good RPG. When you click Role Playing, it'll give you a list of the most popular free and paid role playing games. Click through the lists, read some reviews, check out the screenshots, and make a choice. It's as easy as pie.
It's mostly for the threads with four words, written by some random person with no posts, "what's the best game", and then leaves. Those are the most annoying threads in the forum and are just spam.
