Haven't found a single item yet and no idea what to do. Others might have less problems with this. The scrolling has no deceleration, it just stops which is VERY strange as most apps dont work this way. Graphics look very washed out to me. Like they rendered a night scene, scaled it up, put some artistic filter on it and then increased general brightness (a lot). Not far in yet, so take these impressions with a grain of salt. adelaidejewel Active Member Sep 19, 2011 25 0 0 Digital Media Evangelist Baton Rouge, LA #5 adelaidejewel, Nov 15, 2011 I love games like this! Looking forward to downloading! kukulcan Well-Known Member Jan 4, 2009 351 0 16 #6 kukulcan, Nov 15, 2011 Last edited: Nov 15, 2011 OK the graphics style slowly grows on me. Found more locations by clicking around, got some items. Splitting tiny indoor locations into lots of small chunks instead of a 360 panorama feels like a strange decision. Anyway, still playing, so it can't be that bad. btw. Note to developers: If you split a game into episodes, it would be nice to make it clear in the game's name. Or maybe I get this wrong? Story continues in (free) updates?! syndessol Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2011 131 0 0 http://www.furiousapps.com #7 syndessol, Nov 16, 2011 Hi all... First of all I want to thank you all for downloading our new game Riddenhurst. I hope you find it fun and entertaining. @ Kukulcan... We will look into integrating accelerated panning. We were more focused on developing content rather than fine-polishing UI. I know, I know...no excuses...but when you are a 1.5 man indie shop...well... The graphics style was an evolution on trying to get a comic book style result and get a high level of realism without going to the time commitment of implementing photo real. I hope you all stick with the game and hold final thoughts until we get the update out to you. The update will be free and will be a massive story extension. Right now...about 15% of the story is revealed. The next update will take it to about 55-60%. There will be much more to do with tons of mini-puzzles and a few surprises. Part 2 is inside the walls of the castle. We are planning 4 parts in total for the game. We should have the update ready in a matter of a couple of weeks...hopefully around Thanksgiving time (end of Nov./1st of Dec.). Thanks again for choosing us over the 1000s of other choices out there on the appstore. We really appreciate it and as of this writing...you've brought Riddenhurst to the Top 200 iPad Games US/UK and top 100 in Canada. kukulcan Well-Known Member Jan 4, 2009 351 0 16 #8 kukulcan, Nov 16, 2011 Ah, the developers are here...I love it Note to developer: Bad idea to care about the UI last. It feels unresponsive, though it actually really is not. Took me some time to find out why it feels strange. Note to developer: If we really get all 4 parts as free update, talk about it in the description how this is a great opportunity to get the game at low price now. Being universal with full story and initial problems ironed out this sure can be sold as a Tier 4 app later. Graphics, yeah, this "inverse nuit americaine" is not really my taste, but it doesn't look too cold while still being detailed and professional looking. Still not very comfortable with navigating around but it gets better. When the inventory is open, graphics pan in two directions, I would get rid of that, either cutting off the top or scaling it down while the inventory is open. I agree controlling/moving around is a bit confusing and took me some time getting used to it. I'd like to suggest if there is an option to hide all the cursors/direction pointers. I mean I would rather explore the area myself by trial and error tapping around, than having those cursors, which don't actually show *all* the places you can go. Maybe I am missing something as I played it for only half an hour or so. I LOVE the graphics though! Yes it has a comic book feel and is very well done too. Love the panorama views as well. And I do love this type of adventure game too (which there aren't many in the appstore I think). It's like MYST which you explore the areas, finding items and clues, rather than having 7768142776234 items all packed in one scene (sorry never been a fan of HOG ) and never ending dialogues with NPC's (well maybe there are NPC's which I haven't encountered ) But I sure love exploring without needing to care about whom I talked to, whom I need to meet, and keeping a 100-page journal of information! Great game!!! Congratulations and looking forward to the updates! syndessol Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2011 131 0 0 http://www.furiousapps.com #11 syndessol, Nov 30, 2011 Riddenhurst is on sale for a limited time. Get it while its a steal before the price increase after the update (which is coming very soon). LazyGamer Well-Known Member Sep 26, 2011 290 0 0 Kiel, Germany #12 LazyGamer, Dec 19, 2011 This feels like another effort going down the drain by bad marketing. iTunes ratings are pretty bad (worse than the game deserves) because - people dont understand what to do - people dont understand that they get the whole story for one price There was some help on their website but now I cant even find it anymore. There is no reviews for this - at least none to speak of, just one on a german site that gave it 6/10, which is about the lowest score they usually give. I really, really hope the next update comes soon with the promised features, but why not promote them on iTunes, at least make clear the huge story comes as free updates. syndessol Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2011 131 0 0 http://www.furiousapps.com #13 syndessol, Dec 22, 2011 Last edited: Dec 22, 2011 An update has been released. We heard your criticisms and value them greatly. We've implemented a hint system to help you along if you get stuck and there is also a map of the castle grounds to assist. The new update has a TON of new story in it with several puzzles and lots to do. We hope you give it a second look if you've previously gotten frustrated and shelved it. I should add...navigation becomes much easier inside the castle walls as there are many more reference points to help you. Dark forests tend to be disorienting...both in games and real life. For those of you that are enjoying it. We are glad to hear that and hope you enjoy this next installment. It will make use of the mysterious control panel in the outpost, the windmill and the locked pump house. And yes...the castle gates will open (if you can crack the code inside the gate guard's quarters). And as always...there is still more to come soon. Stay tuned and thanks for choosing Riddenhurst! LazyGamer Well-Known Member Sep 26, 2011 290 0 0 Kiel, Germany #14 LazyGamer, Dec 22, 2011 Sounds good, I will give it a try tonight Still, get the word out, do a press release and use that to get more reviews. And now that episode 2 is out make an extra lite version of episode 1. Just leave it as is, only implement some messages, that you can find all orbs and all windmill parts in the full version and the machine will be operable as well. Yerac8 Member Mar 3, 2012 9 0 0 #15 Yerac8, Mar 3, 2012 I am really enjoying this game but have been stuck for the past few days. The hint says I need to find the control panel in the blacksmith shop and the walkthrough says it is above the blacksmiths shop but all we have above the blacksmiths shop is a locked room for which we need the guards key. Am I missing something? Is the control panel behind the locked door and if so where is the key, I didn't see any mention of one in the walkthrough. syndessol Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2011 131 0 0 http://www.furiousapps.com #16 syndessol, Mar 3, 2012 Hi Yerac, Glad to hear you are enjoying the game. The blacksmith shop has a loft directly above it. When you go up the stone stairs from the lower level...go towards the tree. Don't go under the timbers to the right. You may need to look down to see the little stairway over the knee wall. When at the tree, look left towards the courtyard and stable house. Then take a step forwards and look left. Voila! Hope this helps, Deric (Riddenhurst Creator) Yerac8 Member Mar 3, 2012 9 0 0 #17 Yerac8, Mar 3, 2012 Thanks! It was the looking down I missed! We have been going round in circles!
