My 6 year olds have moved on from games that would entice s 2 year old, but I DO think that there are a few they still play that yours would like... ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ (yes, that's the full app name) is a heck of a unique app that any kid would love. Draw stars Multi pong (there's even a baby mode) garage band (tons of fun playing on instruments most kids would never have the chance to see) Soundtastic free (they can record sounds and play them back at different speeds) Fruit Ninja Fruit Memory glow Hockey There are quite a few other apps that are based on kids tv shows that are awesome foe younger kids. The one with the word animals is supposed to be great. super Why might work. Magnetic ABC is also one that I got from the forums here that has been really fun for them. Give those a try. I think it'll be a good start. Commonsense media is a good site that has age based app reviews. And there's this... http://www.1888freeonlinegames.com/ipadgames/ipad-family-games-apps-7.html I hope that helps a bit
Thanks. I'll check them all out. My fiance's niece (1,5 year old) seems to be really enjoying "Plasma Globe" http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/plasma-globe/id400905823?mt=8
Awesome thread ! My son is 20 months old, I just bought an ipad 2, and I was searching for games he could play. So thanks a lot !
"Hatch!" is a good way to introduce toddlers to the iPad, so they can learn about gentle touching. It's a simple game involving an egg, which cracks when touched. And when touched a few times, it opens to reveal a cartoon creature inside. That's it. But it makes toddlers laugh. Hatch! Free: http://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/hatch-free/id313926803?mt=8 It got an "Easter" update recently, so it's started showing Easter Eggs.
My little boy loves 'Monkey Preschool Lunchbox' Teaches colour, basic numbers, shapes and memory .... its been fun to see his progress .... he started out struggling to do the jigsaws and memory tasks .... now he whizzes through them but still enjoys it.... its universal too i believe.
My two year old loves sound touch. It's fun and educational. Drawing pad is a favorite too as well as anything involving cars
Grasshopperapps, Matching Zoo, and Dr. Seuss Books My daughter is 2 and a half and I have a couple of folders of apps for her on my iPod touch. The ones she goes to over and over again are the one from Grasshopperapps. Do a search for that in iTunes and download the free ones. If you like those, then there are some more for $0.99 each. Also, she likes giraffe's matching zoo, which is also free. I decided to buy a couple of the Dr. Seuss books and she really enjoys those as well. Plus she's getting pretty good at the swiping motion to run the book on her own.
'Sound Touch' is a simple game where the child touches a cartoon animal and it displays the real animal and makes the appropriate noise. Each cartoon animal has a couple of different real world animals. There's a free lite version.
"Intro to letters by Montessorium" is currently on sale for US$1.00. I've seen young kids learning to write letters with this app. They have to draw the shape of each letter by staying within the lines. It's probably not suitable for a 2-yr old, but if they're starting to learn the alphabet, this one is worth considering. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/intro-to-letters-by-montessorium/id387232375?mt=8
I would think the best game for a two year old child would be something that exercises your brain. Myths: Every Child Should Know is a childrens app that exercising their brain. At the age of two, a child just tends to soak up everything like a sponge. Why not soak everything good and extends his/her knowledge?
I change my mind . I think the best game for a 2 year old toddler would be to bring him / her out and have fun .
We go out every day, but if I pick up the ipad for even a moment, two little hands quickly reach out for a turn...
