Considering the depth and breadth of creepiness on the app store, its a relatively unobtrusive and victimless promotional technique, but there we are. The most significant charge I would level against the game is related to interface design: in splitting the difference between designing for phones and tablets, elements seem excessively spread out on tablets, but cramped on phones. Its not a major impediment to usability, but its noticeable. These minor gripes are easily ignored when its the middle of a tournament series, the team is hemorrhaging money and a clutch podium is needed to get back in the black. That series of approachable choices and their many axes and intersections is itself an engine tuned to create drama. As someone with no particular affinity for motorsport or management, I can nevertheless offer a very strong recommendation for Motorsport Manager." 148 Review 4/5 http://www.148apps.com/reviews/motorsport-manager-review/ "It truly feels like a substantial undertaking, so the payoff that comes from success feels earned. Although theres no doubt that Motorsport Manager is unpredictable, with races sometimes taking a nosedive out of nowhere. While it certainly keeps players on their toes, it can be frustrating. However, once players have developed an effective racing strategy, and after throwing some money at research and development, theyll definitely see improvements in their performance. As someone who would hardly call himself a fan of management simulation/strategy games, I found Motorsport Manager to be an accessible, comprehensive, and compelling experience." PT Review 5/5 http://www.pockettactics.com/reviews/review-motorsport-manager/ "At first youll notice that all of the cars in a race finish when the car on the lead lap does, even if theyre not on it. Then youll fire a driver and note that he doesnt go get a job with your rivals, he just vanishes into the ether. Competitors dont even stay between seasons if you opt to stay for a second year competing in the American Racing League, youll see all new teams and faces there. Motorsport Manager is a Truman Show, and thats a shame, because half of what makes auto racing so exciting is the rivalries that build up between the owners, drivers, and teams. Even the relatively uninteresting research-and-development side of things doesnt detract from how exciting the races are. If you cut Christian West Im pretty sure petrol comes pouring out. The game generously holds your hand with frequent advice pop-ups, so non-fans need not stay away, but auto racing enthusiasts will really appreciate Wests eye for detail. His passion for auto racing is everywhere in this game, and Motorsport Manager is quite possibly the best sports sim on mobile as a result." PG Review 9/10 http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPad/Motorsport+Manager/review.asp?c=61192 "There are contracts to negotiate, dilemmas to navigate through, and plenty to keep your fingers busy in short-burst play throughs. Things do get a little repetitive, but there's a huge game to work your way through here, and if it gets its claws into you it's unlikely to let go for a good long while. Motorsport Manager manages to walk the line between number-juggling sims and the softer end of the spectrum, and in doing so creates a strategy game that almost anyone can have a crack at." PS Review 8/10 http://pixelsport.co.uk/2014/08/30/review-motorsport-manager-iphone-ipad/ "it's a lot of fun and its campaign, although a bit one-dimensional, does have some lasting appeal. Its light-hearted take on the world of motorsport, ease of use and great visuals offer wide appeal and crucially, it has that one more race feel to it. Its more Football Chairman than Football Manager, but fans of both will find much to enjoy." I'm on the fence because I'm not too much into these manager games, but this one seems it could fit to me. The problem was that I saw the sale last night here in Spain and thought "hell yeah, as soon as I get to a wifi tomorrow morning I'll grab it at that price", and this morning when I got into App Shopper I saw it had increased its price 48 minutes before me checking it. Therefore, in my case I'll be waiting for another price drop. I don't need it to go to $1, I just find $5 too much for my "lets see if I like it"... Of course, this is my opinion and reasons for not grabbing it at full price. If there was a lite/demo version, I wouldn't mind buying it at $5 if I like it.
