For those interested in App Store stats, here is what a year on the App Store looked like for my game, Krashlander - Ski, Jump, Crash!. FYI, this is a link off this site to my blog. Krashlander - A Year On The App Store I actually posted this in the Krashlander thread as well, hopefully duplicating here is not a problem. If so, feel free to remove it moderators. -Jeff Weber
Thanks for sharing - some really interesting info. for developers. Seems clear that going free is the way to go, to get as many downloads as possible, then monetize with Ads and IAP's, for those who are willing to spend money on your game.
Not really. What matters when you're F2P is usage, not installs. We have no data on the usage of Krashlander. Still - a fascinating tale that shows indie development can be a indie scale success still. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for sharing, those are very impressive numbers to me, we still try hard to atleast get close to this.
You're welcome everyone. Glad you found the numbers interesting. Will post my ad revenue once the free version has been out for a while.
Wow really impressive numbers, I barely have 100 downloads after 1 month lol. How does one get featured by apple?
Do you think its still possible a month after release? I'm trying to integrate a social aspect in my app too boost downloads.
Agree. I think I did get lucky and I'm not counting on it for future games. I did manage to create a bit of buzz from my original trailer and Touch Arcade did a few posts about Krashlander when it first came out. I'm sure that didn't hurt. Here is my original trailer. Not the best production values, but I think it shows a unique game. Krashlander Trailer
I just emailed their "tip" email address, told them about my game, and sent a link to the trailer. Also posted in the forums and had quite a bit of discussion about the game there. I think that helps. I a game gets a lot of buzz in the forums I think you have a good chance of getting noticed by Eli and company. -Jeff
Very Impressive I hope to do as well when I release my game Final Contact. It's nice to see success in the app stores. Continued Success!
