Sega seems to have acquired role playing game powerhouse Atlus. This is speculation and wishful thinking but Sega seems iOS friendly (i.e. lush Sonic ports) so fingers crossed we'll see Shin Megami Tensei properly translated or even (finally) a Disgaea port... Persona! http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2013-09-18/sega-said-to-win-auction-to-buy-bankrupt-japan-gamemaker-index.html
Ogrebattle, ogrebattle 64, and tactics ogre. I think the first 2 would be PERFECT for a touch based system. Not to mention persona, and Disaega. I am sure I am missing a ton of other games they have put out.
Atlus only published the first Disgaea for PS2 in the US. All other Disgaea games (including the D1 PSP and DS ports) were published by NIS. Judging by the press releases, Sega definitely seems to be trying to get Atlus to make more mobile games.
^True.. NIS handled most Disgaea titles. Plus, they published my favorite roguelike evar... Zettai Hero Project. If this gets ported into iOS, i can delete all other roguelikes i have, except maybe Dungelot or its sequel since they are pretty much a lot more different. And as for Atlus being under Sega now, i think that's good for comsumers with the possibility of Atlus RPG ports. Most especially, SMT titles, and Etrian Odyssey titles.
Altus published vanillaware titles in NA as well, no? Odin Sphere or Muramasa could be pretty good on iDevices. Atlus has a pretty impressive backlog. It'd be nice to see some ports.
I hope Sega lets Atlus be self directing. People in other forums have mentioned Sega of America's less than stellar localization record. I generally like Sega, but I would have never have considered the implications of getting in Atlus' way in terms of what they publish/localize.
