go to the Inn Keeper at the Red Lion at Taryn Ridge, he'll give you the deed to the first horse (slowest)
Had an interesting night playing the game. I haven't done an all-nighter since first playing The Quest (on the PC in anticipation of getting an iDevice). My impressions so far: + The sound is amazing. Music is beautiful, particular the harp and virginal sections. Voice acting is actually decent where it is used. Sometimes the sound does pop between sections (like a Mellotron when the tape cycle is up) and the music by default is louder at the beginning than Sir Roderic's dying speech, but these don't take away from the grandeur of the sound. + There is a lot to do. Between various missions, crafting, joining guilds and just exploring, I believe the 30+ hour prediction to be correct. + Graphics are pretty good. On my 3rd generation device, it looks like a souped up Ravensword. Twilight Princess and the original Fable are also good touch points. I'd expect they look amazing on 4G or iPad. + Both first person and the controls worked very well for me. I can't speak to why others have had difficulty with them, as I have had no problems playing in this manner. I love the quick bar. It's in just the right place and easy to use. + Skill trees are a nice touch. Loved them in Rimelands, love them here. - NPC interaction is not especially good. You don't really have conversations so much as get assigned quests and report back. If you're expecting a BioWare game's conversations -- don't. Hell, if you're expecting Oblivion's or Fallout 3's or even The Quest's conversations -- don't. You damn sure are not getting Morrowind's free form discussions. - Monsters respawn right in front of you. Seriously? Suspension of disbelief is right out the window there. It makes it easy to "grind", but that's not a goal I have while gaming. - The small number of classes, and lack of multi-classing/open skill access is annoying. I find myself wanting to play a bard, but I'm stuck playing a ranger. I don't feel the number of character options help with immersion here. - Lack of Game Center support. I ask this of all newer games that have or could have achievements, Aralon is not exempt. Overall: Aralon lacks the depth and character options of The Quest, but is considerably more polished by modern standards, and will definitely appeal to those who can't get passed old-school graphics. Aralon doesn't, however, begin to touch any modern Bethesda or BioWare RPG in terms of depth, gameplay or general polish. If you're expecting an experience even close to these, you will be disappointed. Aralon is fun in its own right, though, and is easily worth the introductory price. It's a 7 out of 10 for me.
I'm really enjoying the game, but my most favorite part hasn't been mentioned yet: Inter-dimensional travel Oh yes, I mean it. Take the starting town: there's an extremely tiny-looking inn from the otuside, but once you head inside, it's massive. Multiple stories, huge area... infinitely bigger on the inside than on the outside. It's like the House of Leaves. Phenomenal. The sense of HP Lovecraft-like inter-dimensional travel seals the deal for me.
I got a question. Im a rogue and i steal and pickpocket and everyone hates me. But wtf some of the NPC are lvl 20 and im 8. And even shopkeepers attack me how do i buy stuff? Any help? i know i should be hated but i think this is overdoing it?
I just want to know what the devs plan on doing regarding the 2nd gen. Are they gonna find a way for the HD version to work after feedback says some 2nd gens operate smoothly? Or are they still gonna stick with releasing a SD, which will be out when?
I don't think we're going to do an SD version now since it already sorta works on 2nd gen. We'll just continue to optimize the 2nd gen version.
Because these are the saddest, poorest, ghetto baddies ever, seriously I have defeated 149 enemies and not one of them has had any gold. Why is there even an option to take gold after killing them?
Games like Gothic and Oblivion let you 'pay off' your dirty deeds with money to a guard in the cities... maybe this game has something like this?
How does this game work on some 2nd gen devices and yet it hops on my 3rd gen on the lowest settings i dont get it . Does it hop for everyone else to?
It will be really GREAT if the items (weapons armors jewels..) have a varied randomized attributes on it and noticible item enhancement by that i mean like torchlight (where you can risk or gamble your item by enhancing stronger and if you're unlucky you can find your weapon break or even your attributes on your item gets wiped completely..but the more u upgrade ur item, the better and stronger it gets but more risker) . But the game is still fantastic, the most fun game ive ever played on iphone and i prefer playing this over any other platform games right now
Where in the heck do I find the woman's husband for the "missing Husband" quest? I feel like I've scoured the caves around me with no luck. Also is there some sort of quest indicator that I don't know about? (as in, go here to complete the quest - or are we sort of always on our own?)
