Will the upcoming update of Real Racing 2 have any performance impact on 3Gs?

The current version runs really good, maybe apart from the moment when I'm starting the race (I'm always racing using cockpit view) and see around 10 cars in front of me - frame ratio drops to around 15-20fps I think, but it is completely playable.
I'm on a non-jailbroken 3Gs and iOS 4.3.3 btw, planning to update do iOS 5 as soon as it will be available.

    The update is out.

The game is now 1.01 GB uncompressed. Just when you didn't think a racer could get any bigger than Asphalt 6..sigh. 4S graphics doubled the size of the game.

This is really quite a grand update for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users. Makes me cringe knowing that I'll have to wait a few weeks to experience all this graphical goodness.:D

    Yep!

Unless you want to know if the visuals in the iPhone/iPod version (rather than Real Racing II HD) work on the iPad 2, then I dont know.

Is there any improvement for iPhone 4?
If not, I won't update it.

Or maybe I will, but delete the game afterwards. Good thing I can restore my save file later.

1+ gb is just way too big.

New menu screen, otherwise no, not really. Still the same (awesome) game it was before but bigger.

I played for almost 2 hrs last night. Just thought I would toss that in - pretty good for a game that has been on my phone since launch. Didn't know about the update - hoping it offers something for us 4 owners since it is so big now.

I tried the new update using HDMI to my TV and I'm getting really bad framerate, using ios 5/iPad 2. I'd say it's around 15 fps maybe, lower sometimes. Anyone else having this issue?

Wonder if it will be even worse using mirroring/apple tv (Firemint?)

Edit: is it rendering in 1080p? If so could'nt u just lower it to 720p (no one would notice!)?

Wow, I just realized I still haven't finished the new missions from a couple updates ago.

Time to get working on that. In the meanwhile, I'm still waiting for some new cars!

Ugh, wow. I have 1.4 GB open on my Touch but it still isn't enough room to download the newest update?!

My God, what has happened to Real Racing 2 on iPhone 4 since iOS 5?!

Even in the menu, the frame rate of your car driving toward the screen is choppy.

The frame rate in races is noticeably lower than it was on iOS 4.

Hope this can be fixed with an update, because that's now Infinity Blade, FIFA 12, and Real Racing 2 (three of my favourite games) that suffer under iOS 5.

Hope Apple hasn't bottlenecked the 4 on iOS 5 so that the 4S looks far better than it already does for games.

Edit: Just noticed people talking about the last update. I think I'll dig out my pre-updated copy of Real Racing 2, because adding 4S visuals to the package has killed performance on iPhone 4.

Without digging hard through all 152 pages of posts, are there any tips or tricks on mastering the sim racing aspects of this? I'm not usually a fan of sim racers, but ever since buying RR2 months ago, I've grown to love them. My problem is, I'm bad at them.

I'm playing on easy and winning every race, woo...But there's no real feel of "skill" there. :p Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Real Racing 2 has become worse and worse with most updates performance and craftiness-wise. It used to be silk smooth when racing on my iPhone 4, but now it stutters badly during replay (and not just the dynamic camera, but all cameras).

Cars also move differently when we're selecting them and it's not for the better.

It was a 9.5/10 game for me until around February, then it started going downhill and now it's just an alright game. Feels bloated, sluggish and nowhere as sleek as before. Firemint doesn't put the heart in this anymore.
