Not sure if this is the right section, if it's not, sorry.

Is it worth getting a 4th gen 32gb ipod now, or waiting till ipod5 comes out?

    Opinions? :p

    Thanks.

If you can get one RIGHT NOW (as in within a week), I'd say go for it. If you have a contract thats not due for a few weeks or a month or longer, then I would wait.

A contract for an iPod? Really now? Reading is a vital skill.

If you're going to spend all summer gaming on the iOS, you might as well get it now. If not, wait three months or so.

I say get one. The next iPod Touch probably won't have any huge advantages over this one. Maybe hardware updates, a slightly better camera, slightly altered shape... nothing important that'll affect game playing, not like the jump from 3rd gen screens to retina display. Possibly a faster processor, but practically every game runs fine on the 4th gen anyway so there's no huge rush to upgrade yet.

What he said, there probably won't be any signiicant feature on the iPod 5 Gen.

I disagree ipods due for a major jump next version (if apple actually makes it)
3rd and 4th gen was barely a jump at all the only difference are the cameras, gyro and the retina screen.

I'd say look at the ipad 2 if you want a rough estimate of the next models.

Easily the best improvements they've ever done.

You are right, how can someone think that those are not the greatest improvements!
    Also don't forget the microphone.
    1st to second----- speaker
2nd to 3rd----- faster and thinner
3rd to 4th--------- camera gyro microphone camera thinner way faster and retina

I'm upgrading to 5th from my 2nd gen... its going to save me a lot of itunes credit not buying games I'm never going to play again. also you don't think if the 5th has dual core processors and the a5 chip like the ipad 2 that isn't a big jump?

Yeah, but the number of games that really use it to their advantage will be minimal. You could easily wait until the 6th gen to hop on. It's like when the 3GS came out and we got a bunch of 3GS-only games... looking back there are barely any that were actually worth buying.

I actually still think the opposite their pointless additions when there is a new cpu, gpu or more storage then I'll be interested. Apple ruined the 4th by not giving it a proper ram boost in my opinion.

    well it depends:

If you like jailbreaking then buy a ipod touch 4G
If you want to install android on the device then buy an ipod touch 4G
If you want the latest model then get the 5G one it comes out.
if you want iOS 5 but want jailbreak then get ipod touch 4G.

Overall the 32GB model is perfect for apps movies and more it is just the right amount, I have the model since christmas and it has served me well.
