      What are people's favorite spaceshooter games? (both iOS and non iOS).

      I'm a huge fan of the classics Defender and R-Type.

      There a game called starship esper for iphone thats pretty good.

      I've played Starship Esper on my iPhone 4 - it's not bad. Great graphics. My all time favorite spaceshooter outside of the iOS is "R-Type Leo". It's very hard and yet so addicting that I keep hitting continue play after I die. Only once did I make it to the end and that was with two players constantly hitting continue after dying. Sometimes I think these games were made to be intentionally hard so you will insert extra coins in the arcade version to continue your game.
