Hi guys, We've been locked away, brewing up new games for what feels like forever now, but it's finally time to announce The Voyage: our spiritual successor to The Curse. There have been many improvements, in lots of different areas, taken primarily from player's feedback (yes... those blasted timed puzzles have been cut and we now have iCloud support) We'd love to get some of you Touch Arcade folk involved in an early access of the game - so PM us if you're interested. Numbers will be limited though. Give us your thoughts, and help spread the word. Thanks, The Mojo Bones team
Hi guys, quick follow-up. We've posted the soundtrack to The Voyage on our Bandcamp page and we're allowing free downloads in the run-up to the game's release (you can also download The Curse soundtrack too)... http://mojobonesltd.bandcamp.com/album/the-voyage-ost-2 We'll have some release date news for you real soon Thanks, The Mojo Bones team
Huge Fan of The Curse & Tongue Tied! here. Looking forward for The Voyage since some of the Mini Games already look awesome.
Thanks Sanuku, appreciate the support. We're also planning some fun interactions with our main character - Captain Bucklebeard - outside of the game itself, using video responses. We had some fun with the Mannequin on these forums after The Curse was released and we're looking to go one step further this time. Any ideas of what you'd like to see re: these... send them over. Not long to go now.
Any chance you could tell us more about the hole Gameplay? I`m currently unsure if it is a Mix of different Mini Games or something like the Professor Layton Games.
Sure Sanuku, The Voyage is a spiritual successor to The Curse in that you're presented with a puzzle book consisting of 100 pages. Each page represents a puzzle to solve, with the difficulty increasing as the book progresses. However, just like The Curse, you're free to tackle the puzzles/pages in any order you like. Maybe you have a particular favorite, of perhaps you want to clear the hardest ones first. The choice is yours. We have 29 unique puzzle mechanics in the game (all new, and more than we had in The Curse) and a new adversary that you'll be battling against. In terms of your objective, you and Captain Bucklebeard will both be searching for a long lost treasure, and it's only by completing the book, solving the puzzles and deciphering the clues that you'll eventually be able to locate Velvet Marley's hidden riches. Bucklebeard will also be hunting for the booty too, so who knows if you'll reach it in time. Cutscenes are fully-voiced and provide a story element to the game if you care for it. We also have numerous cutscene events to participate in. We've got some great free updates planned which will expand the Voyage universe and these will consist of new puzzles, modes and challenges. We want The Voyage to grow over time. As we mentioned in the original post, we've taken feedback from the original game and incorporated it into The Voyage. The difficulty curve has been greatly improved and we've also tried to feature puzzle types that we're popular in the original. Hope that helps.
Thought we'd upload a few exclusive screenshots for you to have a peek at. These are taken directly from the iPhone4 version but all versions of the game (iPad, iPhone3GS, iPhone5) have optimized layouts based on resolution. Enjoy.
Hi Copaeci, Like The Curse, The Voyage will have a limited-time launch price of $0.99. The game still features IAPs, but like the first game, these aren't required to progress. You can purchase hints - or Doubloons as they're referred to in-game - if you get stuck on a specific puzzle. We've worked really hard to balance the IAPs. A lot of people felt the hint prices in The Curse were too high - and there's a negative stigma attached to IAPs in general - so we're aware of how important this is to players. Few notes: - We've never approached a puzzle with the intention of making it hard to force IAP purchases (the same was true of The Curse). Difficulty balancing is another area we've worked hard on with The Voyage: again, using feedback from the original game. - Players wanted to be able to earn free hints. You now have the opportunity to earn Doubloons via your interactions with Bucklebeard. Don't worry, none are earned by having to click social links - We now have 2 IAP tiers (as opposed to 3) and the prices of these have been hugely reduced in-line with feedback from our beta-test and the data we received from The Curse. We'll continue to listen to player feedback upon release and take it from there.
Great to hear this. I can stand IAPs, but I really hate social links. This game looks really good, keep us posted
Hi everyone. Just to let you all know, The Voyage will be launching on the App Store this Thursday (27th Feb). There will be a limited-time launch price of £0.69/$0.99. We're really looking forward to getting your feedback and seeing how many of you manage to solve the map and beat Bucklebeard to the treasure. Be sure to let us know if you have any questions or suggestions for updates. Good luck! Thanks, The Mojo Bones team.
one vital question to be asked: will it run on an ipod 4G? if so then its a no brainer for me..if not, then i can in no way help beat Bucklebeard
Hi Mysticpete, You're good to go with iPod 4th Gen. We also support older devices, going back to the iPhone 3GS (low-res) and 1st Gen iPad. The Voyage is also fully optimised for iPhone5 resolution. Hope that helps (and good luck)
MojoBones- DonnyK76 over on Discus on the front page...The screenshots and trailer look great! I still have about 30 puzzles left in the original. Roll on 11pm Eastern on Wednesday!
Hey Donny, 30 puzzles left is pretty good going. We're looking forward to getting your thoughts on The Voyage. As we mentioned in the comments section, drop an email to [email protected] once you've had a chance to play the game and let us know. As a general note for everyone: if there are any specific puzzle types people want to see more of - or perhaps some puzzles from The Curse that they'd like to see return - send your thoughts to us via the email above. We've got some exciting ideas planned for our first (free) update - which should hit early April.
