So I'm in the hospital for a few weeks, and I could use a good co-op dungeon crawler to play with my wife to kill time. Ideally something that isn't just an IAP leech. Pocket RPG would be the obvious choice if it had multiplayer. Is Dungeon Hunter 2 HD my best bet, or have I overlooked anything better? My wife's a competent gamer, but something with the complexity of Monster Hunter probably wouldn't hold her interest.

What should I check out? It would need to run on a 1st-gen iPad Mini, as that's what she has.

As far as I know, that's your best bet.

I would love it if someone could prove me wrong though.

Hmmm... you guys both have wifi or a 3G flat available?
In this case, I would suggest playing Order & Chaos, an MMO with lots of questing, dungeon roaming and nice chat functions. https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/order-chaos-online/id414664715?mt=8

Another more Diablo-like dungeon crawler is Iesabel (https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/iesabel/id666232910?mt=8) and has co-op play.

Magicka has co-op, I love the humour: https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/magicka/id588720940?mt=8

You can also try Bullet Time, tho I dunno at the moment if it has co-op or only multi-player, but the game is great: https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/bullet-time-hd/id475307808?mt=8

Last, but not least: Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave. Great co-op mode, tons of loot, cool levels. https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/dungeon-defenders-second-wave/id404296113?mt=8

Thanks, hadn't heard of Iesabel. I'll have to check out some videos; the reviews make it sound a little crashy, though.

Dungeon Defenders Second Wave sounds promising, but I've seen a couple complaints about controls. Are they mostly baseless?

Not sure if there's local mp, but you can always check out Heroes and Castles and Bug Heroes 2. There's no dungeon crawling involved in these, but are pretty fun in multiplayer.

Leasabel doesn't work on iPod 4 so it also wouldn't work on iPad 1

Good to know. Hers is an iPad Mini 1, which is basically an iPad 2, so it should work okay.

Also, if we open this up to overhead shooters, what does that give us? Looks like Raiding Company might be good mindless fun; I've never tried it in multiplayer.
