So Ive been working on this new little game, and I figured it was time to share some details about it. Requiem Z is a zombie-apocalypse-themed, turn-based, strategy game. You play the role of Zachary, a survivor who has emerged from a bomb-shelter a few months into the disaster, who must now try and survive in a zombie-dominated environment. The game plays out a little like a really big boardgame where you as the player must guide Zachary around the map, manuvering for advantage in combat and seeking out supplies in abandoned houses. The whole thing is quite slow and methodical, and I really like that. The players goal is simply to survive as long as they can, accumulating the highest score possible. The game plays equally well with touch, mouse, or controller, so Ill hopefully release on as many platforms as I can manage. iOS will be first up as always. Its coming along pretty quickly, so I dont expect development to take too much longer. Expect to see Requiem Z available some time before the end of the year.
Just a quick update with a very-close-to-final-look screenshot. I'll have some gameplay footage up sometime this week, and then the game is pretty much ready to go. Just working on some optimisation at the moment.
6am. The sun is up. The corpses of last night's zombies litter the ground. Getting around to that gameplay footage by the weekend.
So I finally managed to find some time to record a bit of gameplay footage for Requiem Z! Its admittedly not the best quality video footage, but it should give you all the basic idea. Now remember, I did mention previously that its a slow and steady type of game. Keep this in mind when watching; Requiem Z is not a spectator sport. You really need to play it for yourself to fully appreciate it
Annnnnd... done! I'll be submitting Requiem Z v1.0 to Apple tonight. Looking forward to hearing feedback from you guys once you've had a chance to play it. I think this is a game that I can hopefully evolve and add to over time. Let me know what you like, don't like, etc. I'll post back again once the release date is locked in.
I never release on approval because it tends to happen when I'm asleep or something and I miss it It will be quick though - just enough time for me to let people know it's coming out the next day.
Awesome! Game has been submitted and, at this stage, the earliest release is set to the 30th of September. Apple probably won't get to it that quickly, but hopefully it will be sometime next week.
I ended up making the dreaded decision to pull myself out of the review queue and resubmit. I'd found a very minor imbalance in combat stats and couldn't handle the idea of having that bug in v1.0. I did the resubmit on Monday night though, so it shouldn't be too far off with any luck. Apologies - should have updated the thread but forgot
It should be available soon. It actually went into Review yesterday, which means it would have been released yesterday (generally), but Apple disagreed with the violence classification I'd put on it and I had to make an adjustment. I'm hoping that it resumes review shortly and pushes through.
Good news... Requiem Z has just been approved by Apple and is headed to the App Store! You should be able to find it with a search now or fairly soon after now (with either "Requiem Z" or "Steve Jarman" - or possibly this link). Be sure to let me know your feedback; things you love, things you don't love. I already have some interesting plans for v1.1...... I'm looking forward to trying to beat your highscores NOTE: New release thread is here - http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=206583
