    hey guys,

    it's been a while.
last time i showed you some concept arts from our new game and got wealthy of feedbacks. thx~~
currently, we are fighting about the control. for a act game, joystick is always the 1st choice and we made one. it feels not bad but we would like to try more and see if we could make it better.
so, if you guys could share with me games which you think have the best joystick experience on iOS platform, i will really appreciate!

looking forward to having your feedback!

All gameloft FPS's for sure (but I don't know if that helps cause they're FPS's)

Naturally, all the well-known dual-stick shooters and fps have great virtual analogs. For D-pads, I've always enjoyed them as well. Many people have often had gripes on the controls in games like Zenonia, but I feel like that type of control scheme also works quite well. I've never been much of a fan for accelerometer controls. Only racing games + Tilt to Live/Doodle Jump are tolerable to me and don't feel like a chore to play.

    coool~~~thx
    To Crex,
haven't tried bugs hero yet. i will buy and see if it works.
    To backtothis,
yeah, agreed with you. we tried accelerometer but found it too hard for some moves, not good for casual players who want fun from game.

Cant remember which game but I like virtual controls that move and base the 0 axis on where you place your finger. People have different ways in which they operate the device and the different sizes of the fingers matter too. Also a setting to change the size of the virtual stick is a welcome addition.

    great idea!
    suggestion taken~~
we will see if we could make it to be adaptable to finger sizes. so far, we could make it move and hold at any place you feel good.

    Best:

    Pix'N Love Rush
    Soosiz
    OMG Pirates
    Soloman's Keep
    Minisquadron

Unfortunately for every good control D-Pad on the Iphone there's at least 100 games that suck horribly and are ulcer inducing.

    A few of these:

Any of the genesis emulated games
    Hybrid 1 + 2
    Knights Rush
    Real Tennis 2009
    Caligo Chaser

and the list goes on and on...and on.

Like I said, I felt the controls in games like Zenonia, Hybrid, and the such worked perfectly..so that's just opinion.

    Genesis emulated games?..Really now?

The controls for Knights Rush couldn't have been better suited for the game.

Fair enough. That's your opinion and I have mine.
The controls for the OFFICIAL Genesis games emulated and released by Sega for the Iphone suck...period.

My definition for good controls are that they do what I need them to do. In a game like Knights Rush, I feel like I'm constantly having to try again and again to move my knight to do simple things like jump into a portal or to avoid some fiery pit. The difficulty should come from the game itself and not from the controls.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of too many good (or bad) games that use a virtual control stick. But from recently playing both Devil May Cry 4 and Sacred Odyssey, DMC4 has a subpar control stick, while SO's is pretty good.
