    Gamevil’s upcoming RPG blockbuster requires script editors to proof-read all dialogues within the game.

    We are looking for 4 capable editors to carry out the following tasks:

    - Play the game and check all grammatical & spelling errors;
    - Identify any dialogues that are difficult to understand or can be improved;
    - Check if all the dialogue correspond with RPG jargon.

    If interested please reply to [email protected] with the following details.

    - Brief self resume including name, age, school
    - Previous RPG CBT experience
    - Have you played any GAMEVIL RPGs?
    - If so, how long did it take to complete the game?

    The selected applicants must be able to give detailed feedbacks and will be rewarded for their contributions.

    Applications close at Midnight Thursday, 4th of February.

    Does the game need to be played?

    I'd happily read though blocks of text, make the edits, then send them back. I'd assume it would be a much faster turnaround

    I was actually thinking the same thing. Can't the editor just work off the script?

    Is payment neccessary? What about immortality in the form of the credits? Some of us do this out of passion, man! It is the omnipresent burning fire of emotion, the spring of man's desire!

    No, it's not necessary, but Gamevil is being gracious enough to offer it to whoever works for them as a 'thank you'.

    You don't have to have it if you don't want to.

    Cheat codes will be installed into the build for you to play quicker but going off the script is acceptable as well.

    However, please note that not all the script is in order.
    (It's much easier to follow it with the game, trust me;))

    Emailed. I really hope that I get selected, I've been trying to get some good editing experience to put on my resume for quite a while.

    Payment for a provided service is being "gracious?" And isn't "necessary?"

    Do you actually believe that or are you just kissing ass in the hope that it will get you the job?

    Whoops, I misread. >_<

    Yeah, methinks that not expecting payment for editing an RPG of this size would cause the ones desiring the editing to doubt your abilities as a proofreader.

    Sadly, (with very few exceptions) editing (let alone proofreading) does appear to have been placed barely a notch above "slave labour." Not least because of what most so called "editors" are agreeable to being paid. Just check a place like Elance if you want proof. As with a lot of things in life, you do generally get what you pay for, however, in this field, generally, employers are fairly unqualified to judge the quality of the work they're paying for, so cheap enough is good enough for them.

    Yes, I'm an editor, and no, I have not applied for this job.

    No, I'm not just kissing ass.

    Payment for me is getting to play the game before it's released, I don't care if I get paid, it's just a bonus if I do.

    Awesome. It's just, for some of us, editing is, you know, a "job."

    Sorry. I guess it's just a sore point and you hit a nerve.

    P.S. The word you were looking for is "aggressive."

    I'm sorry if I hit a nerve. I didn't mean to offend you.

    And no, the word I'm looking for is violent. I'm using it intentionally.

    Violent: Acting with or marked by or resulting from great force or energy or emotional intensity; "a violent attack"; "a violent person"; "violent feelings ...

    I believe that your post fits that description. (That's not a jab at you, either. No sarcasm)

    Bah. No need to be so darn careful. I'm not a china vase you know. We're both sorry and I have a heck of a lot more to be sorry for.

    (And the word you were looking for is STILL "aggressive.")

    :p
