Retro Gaming..

Got so many. I've got s spectrum emulator installed with 200 games on it. Those old games are classics. Still play lots of them on my iPhone

Also love getting Retro Gamer mag every month. Still play a lot of gameboy/nes and other retro games via the emulators at builds.io

 

You sir..are a legend.

Commander Keen or Keen Dreams was amazing back when gaming meant..sitting infront of an Amstrad with some cassette tapes playing Dizzy-Land.

Wish I could turn the clock back (wipes a tear) (rusty..diseased..tear)

Funny, I was just thinking about this retro gem. I saved up my money for a couple months before I finally could purchase it. I didn't sleep the night before I bought it. Then a had to wait for my mom to get home from work to take me to the computer store and it seemed like a lifetime. I loved that game to death.

 

Any games by Apogee where the best.

Got every issue. Also they sell digital versions. The Bookazines (compilations) are also very good. Check the retro gamer app on Newstand. Also GamesTm publish the retro sections as seperate Bookazines (Also on newstand)

Love it ! Subscribers issue which came today has a front cover of 1942 on the front. Amazing in the year 2015 you get a magazine featuring these old classics. Up to issue 148 at the mo. Been going a long time

There's also lots of retro shows in the UK. Massive one in manchester (play expo) every October and a show in blackpool. Also a friend has released some retro books....

Well technically I still do, but one of the recent iOS updates locked me out from adding games to it.

 

Zzap

Anyone remember Zzap 64, the computer magazine? Now that takes me back...

 

I didn't play those, but I as a first-person (shooter) fan I will share a screenshot from the first first-person 3D game I played: WAYOUT (on Commodore 64). It really did animate smoothly in 3D, turning 360 degrees and moving forward freely. It was not "snap and redraw" with you stuck on a grid like classic adventure games.



The actual 3D view area is 64x96 pixels.


For comparison, I now game (beyond iOS) on a Mac Pro putting out 3840x2160 That's 1,350 times the first-person pixels I started on! (A retina iPad is 506 times the pixels.)

 

Best read of my whole life. Nothing comes close - and many have tried. It was damn funny too when some of the game makers and Rignall et al got together. Damn great artwork too for it's day. Well remembered, sir.
