I've just submitted IsoCards to Apple, so hopefully it will be available on launch day. It will be free for the launch of the iPad. IsoCards is a multitouch-gesture and physics driven deck of cards that allows you to play any card game you want. No rules are pre-programmed. Just add a deck, add a few players, deal out some cards and you are good to go. The biggest problem with multiple people playing on the same device is how to you keep your opponents from seeing your cards? Well, you cards are face down by default. But, by cupping your hand and placing it at the top of your cards they will flip over for only you to see. As soon as you lift your hand your cards will quickly flip back over. There are also some nice interfaces for organizing your cards: You can also connect an iPhone/iPod to the iPad to hold your cards (well, technically this will be coming out in an update... I want to test on a device first): The most important part of IsoCards is that it is a very clean, intuitive game engine for cards, that can be adapted to nearly any type of game. So, I plan on releasing updates with common games already programmed in (Solitaire, Gin Rummy, Go Fish, etc.) More info on my blog: http://opetopic.com/blog/2010/03/27/brand-new-ipad-title-isocards/ What do you think? Oh man, the hand-cupping thing is so smart. That's exactly what has to happen on a single screen device. Now right now, it seems like each person can be assigned a corner of the screen for their hand? Does that mean up to 4 players? I'm very interested in this, and since it's free, your app is going to be a staple of everyone's device come launch day.
Hey thanks! I don't limit the number of people that can play, but realistically only 4 could play. At least we will see once the iPad comes out... so much guesswork involved...
That's very cool! I think being able to play games with more than 1 person huddled around the iPad is going to be awesome. Love the idea of cupping your hands to see your cards! -Keith
Hey guys, I've been quite excited that IsoCards has been mentioned on PocketGamer and 148apps recently. It seems quite a few people are interested in the app. I just created a video for IsoCards: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
yeah, there has been some talk about that. as well as skinning the back of the cards. I'll consider it more closely...
Hey guys, IsoCards is now live in the store and free! However, I will not be keeping it free for long. So, even if you don't have an iPad you should go ahead and download it for the future.
