Flat Design eschews realism for simplicity and is often described in terms of its minimalism. It focuses on solid bold colors and angular geometric figures, especially the square and rectangle, emphasizes the use of empty space or grid-like organization, and often employs clear and easily readable typography, allowing for the message to take center stage. Its defining feature is perhaps the absence or minimal impression of depth, hence the name "Flat Design." If you know of any other games that fit the category, please share them, and I will add them in. My pleasure! Great list, by the by. I discovered and am enjoying Pile, and want to check out a few of the other ones.
I think Powerpuff Girls Defenders of Townsville may fit the description. Flat, 2D, minimal gradience. Also to consider: Icycle
These are some games that use flat simple graphic. There are a few more, once you get to these the others are near by You can try this game, it is on google play and soon on itunes. The object of the game is to only touch the squares which are coming from the center of the screen towards you. They are mixed with rectangles. You can find it at this link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firstSPIN.pianotap If you like puzzles check this one out at this link https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/2048.v2/id937669142?mt=8 It is the 2048 games with 2 new features, not more grids or new colors but features that change the way you play the game.
So, as someone who does not always "get it" - I am going to throw out some puzzlers that I think fit well into the category - but please correct me if I am wrong. Queztlcoatl by 1ButtonSarl Harmony and Harmony 2 by BorderLeap Polymer by FixPoint Productions Huerons by BulkyPix Hearts - A unique puzzle experience by Snow Covered Games An old one, but really excellent Mondrian by Fuzzi Tail Software Another old one Monospace by Nonverbal (makers of ColorBind and Folt) Groops by Torched Media Trees of Life HD (iPad only) by Kevin Bertman
If Pulse fits - the other games by Cipher Prime - Fractal and Splice could be considered as well - both are really excellent
Wow! Thanks to the moderator(s) for making more room for the list. Please keep the suggestions coming! Some of those games may have a little bit too much going on to preserve the minimalism, but I will try to be as inclusive as possible. This Beginner's Guide provides an excellent introduction to the basic principles of Flat Design.
Yeah. Ignore my PPG and Icycle suggestion... These game have parallax-ish background and tons of ingame elements altogether in one screen sometimes that it doesnt feel minimalistic and the background suggests dimensional depth. Sorry.
