Hey, We are working on some ideas for the icon for Astro Ranch. We really want to make the Spicken (Space Chicken) the mascot for the game. These are the two basic images we like so far: We are going to make him look more like a farmer and give him more personality but which do you prefer? Face on (left) or side on (right)? All thoughts and suggestions much appreciated! Thanks Paul
Side on def. It is more indirect and you get a sense of 3D. It also makes us ask questions like: What's he staring at? etc. which is always good. Mad
to be honest the icon creeps me out. must be my pain meds. laughs.. right side most def.. head on is just to creepy.. and has scar.. me, quite frankly i think i may have to sue for mental damages space chicken has caused.. not even gonna get into radiation damage. right side! chris.
voted for the icon on the right, it looks better in the small icon image and gives more of a 3-d feel
Right. more identifiable as a spicken. Better reflects the in-game art style. Standing on a patch of green ties in with farming theme, rather than floating mid-space where you just feel like shooting him down!
I like the side on one, but more centered and with the blue background of the left hand one instead of the black.
I voted for right side. I like ground spicken is standing on - looks like planet what associates with Astro Ranch. Although - I don't like the frame. I think it make the icon too casual. Yours,
Definitely side on. The position looks correct as it is. It give the impression he's gazing into space.

I voted for the side view. However, I'm not sure about the pitchfork. Maybe the spicken should be standing next to some fully grown nibblin (corn) or with a younger spicken at its feet.
Just think it needs something extra that will make it scream "Astro Ranch". I don't mean more as in cluttering the small icon, but something that will help define it. I was thinking maybe the spaceship or a bit of the spaceship in the background, or astro ranch written in the sky (would be too small), or a space-horseshoe to frame it... or a crate with veggies on the floor... Sorry, I wish I had the answer.
That pitchfork doesn't have enough personality. It's looking great, I wouldn't add too many more elements. Keep it simple and graphic, otherwise it'll be too much before you know it.
