Downloading *cracks knuckles VaroFN Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2011 4,270 0 36 #6 VaroFN, Jun 5, 2013 Just right after opening the game, you'll understand why this took so many time. The menu is really cool. You can play Career mode, single matches, change some things in Options (music, sounds, ambience sounds and graphics), and, well, take a look at the credits xD The Career mode is the main mode of the game. The first thing you'll have to do is create your own fighter. There's already a video in the upcoming thread that shows it. There are lots of options, and you'll unlock more in the Career mode. Just remember that if you create the character and start playing as him, if you want to edit him again you'll have to pay for the clothes and such (of course, with in-game credits). Then, after creating your character you have access to the map. There are 4 places there: Fight Lab, Olympic Resort, Casino and Dojo. There's a help menu that explains them, but I'll try to summarize. Each place has different matches with different rules. The Fight Lab for example has matches where your character gets different boosts. The prize is a boost that will be used in your next match, but if you lose you'll get the opposite. Then the Olympic Resort is more like normal matches without boosts. There are little tourneys, team survival... You can also get a partner here for free, after you defeat him, that is. In Casino missions are about money. For example, in one of the missions you have to hit the opponent to get some money. It'll be added to the money you get some seconds after the last hit, but if the opponent hits you, you'll lose that amount. Finally, in Dojo you can improve your character, play normal single matches, create an event (those created events will give you less money than the events from the map though) and hire a partner. The game revolves around improving your char. You can do that in the shop at the Dojo. There, you spend in-game credits to buy combos, special moves, clothes and change the art of your character. You get this money from the missions of the map. Yeah, that's right, no IAP! So don't worry sbout the rate of getting money, but I'd say it's okay. You don't have to grind a lot, but since most of the matches has a fee you're risking your money in every match. Well, explaining this was the easy part, because the game is hard as hell. Of course missions have different difficulties, but they all are still very difficult. Don't expect silly AI on this game. Your partner, for example, is an AI character. After hiring/getting one, you can "play" as him. I put those " there because you'll be his coach instead. You can make him play more aggresive, react to the opponent or think about the situation. So yeah, you can change how the partner's AI work in real time, and every other opponent in the game is the same. There's no perfect AI in this game that reads your input, but instead thinks what you're about to do. I hate when they start spamming dashes until running out of energy. Every opponent has its own weakness. And well, that's all, because I'm kinda tired. I highly recommend this game, and I'm sure that the multiplayer update will make it even better, but IMO it needs some damage balancing and other things along MP, but I need a rest so I'll talk about it later . Graphics, by the way, are good, but the dev also said that he'd like to improve them as well (no promises though). With max graphics level the game crashed twice on my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.1.1 jailbroken). But prepare to get easily frustated. Getting the hang of this game is really hard, but I guess that's not a bad thing. I have my graphic details turned up a little over halfway for my 4s. No crash - works great. I highly recommend any hardcore FG or casual fight player pick this game up. I agree with the sentiments made elsewhere in this thread - for a one man programmer Ben really put capcom to shame here. If you do not pick up this game - you are truly missing out. For some reason when I tap the "s" button near the movement stick, I am assuming for fighting style stance. Playing as shaolin - it does not change from fighting style stance. It just stays the same with the one leg up style. I have not gone into career mode as of yet since I want to play with each of the martial arts before commiting to one style in career. So for now I am practicing in match. PRACTICE AREA: What I've noticed immediately, there is no practice room. Request a separate section just like "match" but for a dojo(practice area) So we may hone our skills and discover tactics. Once in here, we can choose any of our created characters or preselected martial art with its preselected fighter. This section should be complete with dummy AI options. Where we can assign commands too - for example: Stay Standing Stay Crouching Block low Block Standing Don't block Do a wake up when knocked down Don't do a wake up when knocked down Give us the option to set unlimited health so we can keep the study session going. Give us the option to set unlimited energy so we can keep practicing a specific combo sequence over & over without being interrupted via energy depletion. *IMPORTANT* Still speaking about the practice room: Give us the ability to "record" by this I mean: Where I can tap a option that would say "record AI" once I activate it, I would assume control of the AI dummy and input a specific move or combo chain while controlling it. Once I am done - I can set it on a loop so the AI keeps doing the same move I recorded it doing - over and over, thus, I can practice developing counters against said move. Also, if I come across any combo, pressure tactic online, I can replicate it here and practice against it. INGAME MOVE LIST ATTACHED WITH FRAME RATE: Starting Frames Recovering Frames Showcase the Postives or Negatives off a block Damage percentage on connect Damage percentage on block This frame rate data would be listed right next to its associated move. If possible mimick or create something similar to what is shown here: (Highlighted move on the left is being represented by the frame data on the right) http://maxlevel.org/injustice-gods-among-us-demo-impressions/ ICADE SUPPORT: Now that I've had some hands on, I can definitely play this with the icade core. Ben, If you do decide to support it, just give us the option to assign "grab" its own button instead of the star tapping and us icade users will be straight. tognesimo Well-Known Member Apr 26, 2011 906 0 16 #17 tognesimo, Jun 5, 2013 I agree, this game is fantastic! VaroFN Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2011 4,270 0 36 #18 VaroFN, Jun 5, 2013 Last edited: Jun 5, 2013 I agree about the training room. After opening a new fightig game the first thing I do is look for the training mode. It's the best way to learn about the gameplay. About the balance of the game, when the AI starts spamming dash is really annoying. But the damage over time effect is way more annoying. 345 over 6 sec is a lot. Everytime I die because of that effect it feels really cheap. Then I don't understand why sometimes I hit the buttons properly but I don't start any combo, even with full energy. Also, I always lose grabs. I tap the health nodes like crazy and nothing happens. I use grabs after a sweep when the opponent has no energy and I still lose. And well, this isn't a big problem, but the loading background doesn't have the size of the screen. So far that's my feedback. EDIT: almost forgot this. Another thing I don't undersand is why sweeps and other low attacks hit while the enemy is airborne. And IMO the special button should be in the right side of the screen. Lifting the finger from the joystick feels unnatural. And another little bug: if you win by using a combo, the message that tells you the damage dealt and the number of hits won't disappear until you do another combo in the next round. KineticDamage Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 198 0 0 #19 KineticDamage, Jun 5, 2013 Last edited: Jun 5, 2013 That's great you're all enjoying the experience (Thanks for your kind words Squarezero ! I hope you guys at TA received the codes I sent) Ok, I noted your feedback Odion and Varo, you're right about training mode. I thought the Sparring section (Career -> Dojo) would fit the job, but disabling the AI (at least) would be good for training yeah. The AI dash spamming is like the AI Parry in SF3, it's only used when there's no other real solution for the AI at a higher level. But I noticed it was quite happening often at times. It's a matter of balancing the AI decision stat at that precise time (Dash is used when AI choose to be aggressive, instead of Reactive of Analytic). I'll check that. But remember : Spamming dash is *bad*, as it sucks up the energy bar ! If the AI is spamming dash, that means you're closer and closer to a guaranteed Grab from you, or even a special. About the Qi Burn DOT being powerful, it's actually the only real weapon of TaiChi against very fast Arts. Tai Chi has extreme long range, and is slow, so if you stick it close quarter, it's basically in deep trouble if I don't give it another close quarter advantage. Think of it like the DOT classes in WoW (priest, warlock) : they have always been incredibly powerful on DOTs, even the Top DPS at times. But building that DPS was slow. That's the same for Tai Chi Chuan, the Qi Burn mechanic is the following : So the first applications are ok, but if you keep being hit, it will become very strong, forcing you to rush less. On the other hand, this will motivates Tai Chi fighter to chain more and more before the debuff fades away, giving you more and more occasions to counter on his recover times. I feel it's a win-win scenario, where attention pays off for the defender, and chaining pays off for the attacker (knowing that TaiChi doesn't have many more chaining options, it's more based around timing and countering). That said, I balanced fighters around having all specials, and all combos. So I will gather player feedback about such balance stuff, and will adjust if things feel really unbalanced in a full specials vs. full specials scenario. _______________ Important note : I noticed that the finger tooltip is placed wrong when you're grabbed. To defend against a grab battle, you have to tap the *opponent* star, not yours. It's written in the ingame fight rules, but I placed it wrong in the UI. My bad, I'll provide an update asap. _______________ p.s : Hey Buck nice to see you here my friend Btw Kinetic Damage soundtrack is available on iTunes, you can check the link in the Title Screen -> credits section.
