I have just picked up Geo Geo wars which I realy enjoy. The controls and graphics are great and it uses openfeint which is a bonus. I also played the lite version of Cell War and have mixed feelings, it does seem like a good game but as much as I find the controls descent, I wish there was an option for touch controls and I like a game that has a really nice global high scores list. (openfeint or similar or just something really crisp and nicely laid out)

What is youe favorite shooter out there keeping in mind graphics, global high scores, great control, and just overall polish.

It's funny, I was JUST playing Cell War lite, and saying the same thing to myself. That the graphics and animations are just shy of being great.

As far as the best, I think it's Meteor Blitz.

I played the game and did not pick it up when it was on sale for .99. maybe I need to give it another look but I prefer touch controls over virtual pads. I really enjoy the graphics and control of geogeo wars, go me thinking about shooters again.

    My favorites are:

    Meteor Blitz
    GeoFighter
    Isotope
    Nano Fighter
    Space Invaders Infinity Gene

iDodge: Space Ninja is awesome as well, but there is no shooting involved, so it's not really a shooter :) Still recommend it though.

Meteor Blitz, it's incredibly polished and a lot of fun. It's also perfect for pick up and play gameplay because of it's almost instant start and save mechanic.

All of them(with a slight exception for iDodge).

    Dual stick touch controls:
    Meteor Blitz
    GeoFighter
    Isotope
    Nano Fighter

One finger on screen to control the ship:
    Space Invaders Infinity Gene

Tilt to move around, but touch to go into "slo-mo" mode
    iDodge: Space Ninja

    I love it :)

I played the lite version of meteor Blitz to see what the fuss was about and thought I remember it being controlled with virtual sticks ( I habve trouble with virtual sticks or pads or whatever they are)..........maybe not...or maybe there is a touch control option............so many games :)

maybe i should start with space invaders infinity gene ..........been waiting for a sale on that one ! probably won't happen, at least for a while.

I know, my mistake. I meant games like geogeo wars where you can touch anywhere on the screen. I think that space invaders infinity gene also controls like that too.

Castle of magic ruined virtual pads for me :( Nice looking game but the control was :( for me.

I didn't like COM's controls either, but I enjoyed all the games I listed and yep Space Invaders does controls like you mention.

You might wanna pick that up.

And I don't know if this changes anything, but for Isotope the dual sticks appear wherever you put your thumbs and for iDodge you can touch anywhere in the screen to go into slow mo. Which plays a vital role in the game, especially when you get into further levels. The actual ship is controlled via tilt though, but I can't say enough nice things about the game and I usually hate tilt controls.

I will look into all of those games. thanks for the info :)

I thought that space invaders was all hype but it seems like it's a really good game. Are there Global high scores in it ?

I just picked up Chalk Fighter by the way and I find it very fun (free for 24 hrs)

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have global high scores.

Too bad. Does it at least have local high scores? and are the levels where you play your own songs really good ?
