His kids are probably going to end up being the coolest kids in school, and he should definitely be given a "Dad of the Century" award. I mean, it's cool for your dad to make a game...but a game about YOU? MIND = BLOWN. For what the game lacks in graphics, it makes up in pretty much everything else. The controls are super-tight, there's so much more depth to them than you'd think by just looking at them (sprinting ala Kidd Trip, shooting, blocking and the super jump). The level design is extremely well thought-out, with great little surprises popping up every now and then and they just have this flow to them, that again, harkens back to the days I was pulling out my beard with Kidd Tripp (which I consider one of the best games on anything, tbh). The combo system is an awesome, completely fresh concept and a possible game changer (even though I'll never muster enough courage to play the game on anything but Casual since Retro Hard efficiently stuck my tail between my legs for life) and the game oozes heart from the moment the opening cutscene starts. I'm really, really digging this and I hope Jump Jack ends up being a fairy tale story like Cally's Caves, where the series advanced in such a way that the graphics one day became just as good as the gameplay. Who knows, perhaps Jump Jack sees a sequel, or this game one day down the line gets a graphical update. It's not in need of one mind you, but that would just elevate the game a couple of hundred notches and make it an essential title. I also love how Casual is essentially just a practice mode and you NEED to play on Normal and Hard to unlock leaderboards and the Nightmare mode. Oh, and how could I forget? The music is BRILLIANT. Hell, I'd consider the 3rd stage music some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. For a buck and the amount of heart the game has? No brainer. sobriquet Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2015 1,216 1 38 #3 sobriquet, Oct 7, 2015 Thanks MC. I almost overlooked this one until I read your endorsement. I was also fortunate enough to beta test it and can say you won't be disappointed, especially if you love a good ol' retro experience. Best of luck with this Eric! I too had the opportunity to beta test this from the very start, but haven't played the finished version. I'm really looking forward to that. Eric reached out to me via Twitter months ago, and through Twitter DMs and emails, I've had the pleasure of getting to know him as a person (as much as you can through messaging). He's been nothing but kind spirited, and very passionate about Jump Jack. This will be the first purchase of my evening/morning and I'll continue to support the RossmanBros until they stop game dev. MC summed up the gameplay very well. It's a fast, runner/platformer that requires skill and muscle memory to master. The shooting, shielding, and jumping mechanics separate Jump Jack from your everyday runner/shooter/platformer, adding personality and a sense of "this dev wanted to make a game for gamers, not just to make money". And that alone is worth my time and money any day of the week. Billy H4nd0fg0d Well-Known Member Mar 30, 2010 1,907 0 36 #18 H4nd0fg0d, Oct 8, 2015 Ya, good game for certain. Also had the pleasure of demoing this a few days ago and have to say it is one fast reaction runner/performer. Very satisfying to put together a tight run full of sweet combos. Very solid stuff considering MC & AKD's seal of approval. Cheers Anotherkellydown Moderator Staff Member Patreon Bronze Feb 10, 2014 4,422 1,051 113 Male CAD Technician I Upstate NY https://youtube.com/channel/UCcvu9xhE7xT-mZrXUZQJr5g #19 Anotherkellydown, Oct 8, 2015 Awesome trailer XD Well, a lot has changed since I last played this (in beta). The controls are now perfectly fine-tuned. It's highway robbery for this to be a premium game priced at one dollar! Not gonna lie though, this is not for the impatient! Unless you're a gaming savant, you will die many, many times. But practice makes... well.. not perfect in my case but better and better! The levels are perfectly structured so as not to be unfair, and once you get in a rhythm, it feels really rewarding to flow through hordes of chocolate-hating robots and cross the finish line. The length of the levels is perfect. Not too long, not too short. And you can come back to where you left off after quitting the game. I started out in regular mode because I wanted to make some kind of mark on the leaderboard, but I may go through on easy next time to get into a groove. I'm finding that my thumb stays glued to the sprint/fire button because I'm concentrating on the action. When it comes time to slip over to the block button, I just freeze up. Almost have to remember where the projectiles are and plan ahead for them. Even though I've said some (a lot) of naughty words while playing, I still want to keep going. Like I said though, there's an easy mode for people to try which is much more laid back. The graphic style (Mega Man vibes), gameplay, and overall package here is really good. An easy recommendation to anyone for a fully premium game at the lowest possible price. Great job guys. weretiger Well-Known Member Mar 14, 2009 129 0 0 #20 weretiger, Oct 8, 2015 Looking forward to this one! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
