As far as I'm aware Microsoft canned Ensemble pretty much as soon as they finished H.Wars. This could yield interesting results for us iPhone gamers. ...Here's hoping.
A good RTS?, we'll have it in a few weeks! It's called Quantum Collapse and i'm finishing it I doubt we'll see anything out of this studio in less than a year.
yea but this is a huge name dev, i liked halo wars and age of empire, if this is anything like those it will be worth the wait
Technically, they(Microsoft) let us know in September that we would be cut as soon as HW shipped. I have no doubt that NewToy will make a great, polished game. Can't wait to play it.

Halo Wars had probably the best controls for a non Wii Console RTS. It was quite an achievement. This game looks great. Any idea whether it'll have multiplayer?
Anything with the "Halo" name is bound to be a commercial (financial) success. Regardless, it is becoming apparent that the size of the studio does not mean a "great" game. I love Ensemble studios and what they were able to create, but I seeing more and more that indie developers are doing great things on the iPhone/iPod Touch. But we can't make any judgments since the details are VERY scarce on this project. I think they will do something great if they stick with the RTS genre.
Halo wars waas Waaaaaaay to easy in my opinion. Age of empires 2 was way harder than it. I beat the hardest difficulty in the demo without even trying xD I really hope this is a RTS.
So.. What's NewToy? Two people that broke off and formed their own studio after Ensemble got split up? Loved Age of Empires II and III, both really great games, played III online for about 2 years, the graphics are still some of the best around and i haven't seen any RTSs best the gameplay since If only EA could take their heads out of their behinds and create another good Command and Conquer game (Generals was (for me) the last good one).
that is a team made from some of the members of ensemble. Some went to that and some went to this i guess
