This is an icon for a new game. I don't say anything about the game on purpose. Could you tell me what this game is about? What are your first feelings about the icon?
Hmmm... Maybe about digging, doesn't catch attention well, try a simple three or four color scale with one of the tiny guys and a shovel, or something like that, maybe red, or pure silver background, you don't see that often on icons.
Thx a lot. A graphics designer has offered to help. I'll post a poll in a couple of days/weeks with another icon.
Icon projects + Gameplay video + Beta tests I'm back with 3 icon projects, I would like to know which one you prefer. Thx a lot as you knw how important is the icon for an iOS app. The game is quite advanced and I'm about to start beta tests. For those who are interested, I can share a gameplay video on youtube (tell me your youtube username). You can decide later if you want to beta test or not.
Maybe this is the classic gamer in me talking but I would like to see 1 or 2 in the style of 3 - the pixelly art has character even if you can't tell what's going on - the other two are great but very standard iOS in style. They catch my eye because of what's going on; the third catches my eye because of style; but neither do both.
Thank you so much. Interesting remarks I could try a pixel version of image2. Any takers for the beta tests?
OK as Notch (yes that one god who created minecraft) tweeted about the gameplay video ( https://twitter.com/notch/status/244493852151521280 ), I was "forced" to make it public, so here is a link to the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yPURv6E0wQ
Hmm, personally I think image 1 looks the best, at least to my eye, image 2 is a bit too cluttered and the guy looks TOO happy, image 1 he looks determined and intriguing, image 3's pixel art looks too much like it was taken from a larger piece, if it's to be done in pixel art, a simple image of the main character would suffice, or, if going for a pixel art one, remove the shiny gold border, as it doesnt fit. Edit: I just watched the video, and I think a pixel art one with the little characters is best, because it is distinguished, seeing the icon should remind you of the game, and the little miners should do exactly that, I maintain my position on shiny gold border, it doesn't fit and has nothing to do with the game, and makes the game seem less unique, because so many games seem to use it in their icons now.
