Mad catz ctlri Phonejoy mfi Moga rebel Ifrogz new Signal rp one supposedly Razer maybe Phonejoy and madcatz are the ones to look out for, both will rock. Steelseries stratus is good for now too, especially as a travel stick
The CTRLi by Mad Catz should be out very soon - should be what you're looking for if you're a fan of 3D games. For 2D games, the SteelSeries Stratus will probably be superior - basically, it depends on what you're looking for
I've been keeping an eye out for the CTRLi. It should be out by now, but all I see on their site is something called the CTRLr, which looks like it supports everything but iOs devices. Is this the same thing with iOs functionality dropped??
No, last reports, it will come out in late June. It maybe longer too. The name is Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i iOS Game Controller The peroids are important. Maybe that is why you are having a problem finding it. Phonejoy mfi will be awesome too if you want an iphone case stick.
Any news on this front? Looks like I'll be waiting for the SteelSeries Stratus XL, the Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i looks cool too. Although, the articles for the C.T.R.L.i say April and there is no sign of it yet.
Yeah, there were actually quite a few controllers revealed on and around E3 this month. In addition to the Stratus XL and the Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i, there is also a Playstation-style controller coming from Hori, an additional smaller version of the CTRLi from Mad Catz, the new iPad controller case from Gamevice, the new Razer Junglecat controller, the Signal RP-One controller, the Bladepad controller case... There are also some of the older revealed controllers that we haven't heard much from lately, such as the Gamecase from Clamcase, the new Moga Rebel controller (although I think Moga went out of business), the iFrogz / Zagg controllers. Basically, lots of options on the horizon.
Thanks for all the great info. So what is the best controller available right now? I remember TA liking the Stratus quite a bit.
I just ordered a stratus. It's supposed to be in tomorrow, I'll try to remember and post some impressions if you're interested. Also, if your order it from apple.com you won't have to pay shipping.
The Stratus is pretty good for games where you don't need to use both analog sticks at once, or need to use the triggers much. For platforming games and sidescrollers, it's excellent. For shooters, not so much.
I'm not sure. It actually missed it's past two release estimates. The thing is, these controllers do exist in one form or another - people have used them. I'm not sure if there is an Apple certification issue, a mass production issue, or a marketing issue, but I'm sure they'll be released soon enough. The Razer Junglecat will likely be the next controller released, and it is excellent, though it only works with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5.
