I understand all the other games are management related which I can give or take tbh. I need to know how these games work, when I stop playing does the game world stop? I'm thinking of games like Farmville on Facebook that keep running even when you are away. I hate these type of games as they introduce anxiety and force you to constantly check in or the farm/office/F1 team or it all goes to poo. If however its a proper game I will buy. Does the above make sense? ktern Well-Known Member Aug 10, 2011 333 0 0 #12 ktern, Sep 7, 2011 The game world only is active when the game is open. The game requires a fair amount of micro if you want to do well, but if you don't have time, you can pause/exit anytime. devensega Well-Known Member Feb 28, 2011 621 0 0 #13 devensega, Sep 7, 2011 Well good then, I don't mind micro management really.>>>>long time Civ player Appxel Active Member Jul 17, 2011 38 0 0 Sweden #14 Appxel, Sep 7, 2011 Will wait for the regular price drop. Grand Prix Story is, as you might expect, a game about managing a racing team. Over the course of several years, you enter your team in a variety of events and eventually claim the #1 international spot. For anyone who's been keeping up with the Kairosoft games and wish it would go back to the simple joys of Game Dev Story instead of the more Sim City-esque, layout-heavy recent outings, the day has finally come. Grand Prix Story is the most like GDS out of the entire "series", just as intuitive, and has a few twists that make it possibly even more fun. As the manager of the team, you have to hire racers and mechanics, and build an amazing car to trounce the competition with. The racing itself is completely hands-off and depends on your racer and car's stats (and a bit of luck, in typical Kairosoft fashion). However, you do get to watch, and it feels more real and personal than just releasing a game in GDS and watching it rank on the charts. Research data is plentiful in this game; you get more by racing, encouraging you to enter many events. You'll find yourself spending it rapidly, though. You'll have to consider whether to upgrade your car or scrap it for research data so you can build an even better one, and whether you should be leveling your crew or your car parts. GPS can look a little hairy at first, but you're always pointed on the right path, and you'll quickly figure out what works and what doesn't. In the end, it's as simple to play as GDS (much easier than the other Kairosoft games, in other words). Once you "get it", on subsequent plays you'll be dominating competitions within just a few years. GDS had a few unfortunate bits such as the power outages which would trash your game's stats instantly. Short of horrendous luck during a race, GPS doesn't have such punishing random events. It's possible to wreck your car during a race, but only if you haven't been maintaining it well enough, which is a much fairer system. If you loved Game Dev Story, this is an instant must-buy. Anyone else who's at all a fan of the simulation genre, this one is easy to get into and totally engrossing. Grand Prix Story will absorb days of your life, and you'll love every second (except maybe the ones where you lose a race). I can't say enough good things about this game. Totally recommended.
