Wrote 2D and 3D games, had a lot of fun. No money. Trying our luck now with business apps, less fun more money?

If you have time, could you give some feedback / comments on the review thread:

We're adding game mechanics to some business activities, allowing users to create a private network & "check-in" to locations for recognition and awards.

By the way, is anyone else doing this, developing both games & business/productivity apps? Are you releasing under separate companies or publishers or not worrying about that?

    It's good to diversify.

No doubt. I've actually enjoyed using some of the game technology for the business app, and could imagine bring more social aspects to a game again one day.

Yep. I used to develop games as a hobby, and business apps during my daytime job.
After three games I decided to write a productivity / travel app - and it was a good decision.

Whether you develop games or apps, if you manage to finish it, it will be a joyful experience.

Both your travel app and games looks very good.
Is the travel app selling much better then games?

keep in mind that games are by far the most popular category in the store.
So, you might sell well if you have a very good app idea, but in general it's not a "better" market than games.

Thanks. Well, the app started off better compared to my games. But it's rather a niche app, therefore I expect ups and downs.
Btw, 3D Jingle Bells has got good sales lately, being a seasonal game.

I think it's pretty hard to make money on software in general if you just want to make money easier way would be by building a website.

If you keep developing quality apps, you will be rewarded. It might take some time, though.
