i wish there were some reviews or more info about this game and its
mechanics. I am so tempted being an SFB fan, but that is more than
i normally spend on software in general over a year! It does look like you
control only a single ship, not a fleet, but the AI can throw up to nine at you.

There are three reviews... but the wording in the reviews makes me think that they aren't on the up and up.

I'd pay $40 for a port of the PC games (Starfleet Command)! They did a great job of translating the Starfleet Battles system into video game form!

Have you tried Tactical Space Command (TSC)? It's not Star Trek universe but it's a great vector space tactical sim and only a few dollars, about $5, not sure of exact price. I tried the free demo of Starfleet 2013 on my windows tablet, found it very unintuitive.

Yeah, my suspicions are that it went free for a few hours so that the developer and some others could pick it up and review it. I may be being cynical/paranoid but I really wouldn't be surprised with an app of this price

Interesting prices model. It appears people are paying cause it has sold in multiple countries.

So now it seems there are two versions of the game, "2013" & "2014" both at different
prices and no information on the functional differences between them. Has anyone
bought this? It is beyond my budget or I would give it a try. Without any supporting
details, we only have the developer's word and no promise of any updates.
I would love to give it a try, but the price is way too high to take a risk on a download &
delete experience - how about a free demo version/tutorial to play with and if it works
as an SFB SSD the ability to add our own/ updates.....

    Game Impressions

This game is currently available for under $2. I just bought it.
The 2014 version is still $35 or so. The UI is primitive, but there is
a lot going on. There is definitely some SFB action going on here.
A 15 minute play through the game involves selecting helm movement,
shield allocation and weapons. There is only one scenario in the game,
with more promised in the menu, but I assume the $35 version is similar.

The rules are convoluted, just great for obsessive nerds like myself.
There is no save game. exit and you restart. You get a Federation Starship
and get to fight 1-6 Klingons. I think this guy is onto something, but the
UI is awkward. I was doing a lot of zooming in & out on the map.
The AI is confrontational and seems adequate for a short test. I hit one
ship with phaser spread and it moved away to repair while the other one
    covered and closed in.

You can select the ship icons for player & enemy, see their SSD and
damage points which is cool. It's a queer game - I like the hardcore line
graphics but it is very messy.

This game has a lot of rough edges, but I can see myself playing it
and if it gets updates or better pricing, I think it is worth it. There is
definitely an SFB vibe going on and it has something.... just not sure what.
I would recommend this to SFB experienced players who have a spare $2.
It would be nice if there was better info about the game support and
    ability to modify etc....

Is this turn-based or real time?

It's turn based. Pity there is no save game in this one. it has a lot
    of potential.

As another guy pointed out, there is only one scenario.

What is worse is that Starfleet 2013 seems to have been made for PCs' high resolution displays so everything looks extremely tiny on my iPad 2...

I could not resist and gave it a whirl.

I took the $30 plunge because I am an idiot.

The game basically does what it states, not much more than that.

Does not feel like a finished product, or something of the quality level implied by its price tag.

It's been awhile since I have done something stupid, mission accomplished there.
