C'mon - y'all knew this thread was coming - I just decided I would be the one to get flamed...

But seriously, I have always enjoyed the balancing type activities, although what I remember was the real labyrinth games.

I have found that Taxiball has accurate controls, and accurate terrain modelling, and is integral to the game play. I have read that the Blimp Game (just purchased it, but have not played it yet), also does a great job with the accelerometer.

I just played Rolando lite, and was not too impressed with its implementation. Seemed slow and sluggish, and was not very accurate with acceleration based on the amount of tilt - at least did not seem so to me.

So I am interested in games that people have found for the acceleromter to be integral to the game play, but implements it because it needs to, not because they can, and has more of a platformer feel to it, rather than the marble madness type theme, unless it has other game elements in it rather than just going through a maze.

    Any thoughts?

Bounce On does a pretty perfect job.

    been said but

snail mail is the most precise use of it ever. I highly disagree with bounce on you have to turn your phone like completely upside down to get him to move they need to add a sensitivity adjustment to that game.

Snail Mail has the best accelerometer controls for racers/shooters/platformers (there was a huge debate about this but nobody knows the genre) but there are others such as Labyrinth, Doodle Jump, and other similar ones. I thought that Rolando's controls were quite natural.

To me, Bounce On is leveled absolutely spot on to have the perfect control over Bounce. And I finished all levels :)

I bought Glyder recently and it is exactly what you're looking for. Its a flying open world platformer essentially. There are 5 different islands you can fly to and collect orbs throughout the level and do time trials. The accelerometer controls are really smooth and make you feel like you're flying. The game puts a smile on my face.

I think Real Racing has perfect accelerometer controls. It's a bit pricy, but it's probably the game I show off the most when people ask me about my iPhone and the games i have.

I think the Dizzy Bee games use the accelerometer extremely well.

I heartily agree with you with Rolando. It feels like you are moving those little balls in molasses.

Blimp do a good job. it moves exactly how you would expect a zeppelin type machine to move.

    Another few notable ones:
    Doodle Jump
    iFighter
    F.A.S.T and RR
Stellar Blaster & 2079 (If you like the old school stuff)

  17. My free game [app]Upsi Looper[/app] uses the accelerometer.

You tilt the device to draw loops around enemies, and collect fruit.

One of the best games on AppStore in my humble opinion.

I'll put a vote in for Wooden Labyrinth 3D. Not only do you use the accelerometer to move your ball around the X and Y axes, by tilting left, right, towards you and away from you, but you can also move the ball along the Z axis by gently flicking your iPhone / iPod upwards.
(It comes in a free lite version too.)

Do any other games make use of the accelerometer / X, Y & Z axes in this way?

Blue Skies won a Pocketgamer award for its controls. A helicopter with full tilting and strafing in a large world is a good vehicle for it.
