Okay, this will have some of you guys scratching your head, but... I really don't like bullet hell shmups, but I have become dangerously addicted to Phoenix HD and am looking for the 'next thing'. Any suggestions? Would Darius Burst be something similar?
Just found a shmup called "The Strain" which is really really cool. I definitely recommend giving it a shot
A "shoot em up" Usually they scroll vertically and you have to dodge enemy bullets whilst shooting the enemies. Auto-fire is generally utilized. They can scroll horizontally as well. Galaga, Pheonix HD, and R-Type are all shmups
If i could only name one, it would have to be Phoenix HD. Each ship is basically a new game. Only downside to Phoenix HD is that it is more an endless high-score chaser than a story-driven shmup like the usual Psikyo or Cave titles and the likes... Which isnt really a downside since the design was to make it as it is.
The best new one, Glorkian Warrior: Trials of Glork is my favorite shmup at the moment. And propably for a long time. Premium app, tons of fun, great proven gameplay with a 2014 feel, hilarious, amazing art, it has it all <3 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=221894
The developer said that on the iPhone 4 does not run very well, its laggy because it is too action heavy for that to handle smoothly. Also. doesnt work on iPod Touch 4 or iPad 1.
Oh since you tried the beta its still pretty much the same. But since its laggy the developer cant recommend it. If it was playable enough for you go for it... if not, I left you an amazing suggestion at your thread

Wit th color of bullets it remindz me of Ikaruga. This is one that you should have much fun wit. I was hoping 4 an extention of power ups or a cut cool down 4 my dragon, itz nice ? th Dev has given us tho. The bosses are mad ready to fire yet creativly cool.
