My ipod touch 5g has been slow ever since iOS 7, i know we cant get back to iOS 6. So iOS 8 has been having lots of new things specially the new Metal feature for a few games. But im sure the ipod touch can be slower for few games. You can find yourself with modern combat 4 lagging down like crazy. But im not even sure to update to iOS 8. Ive been even hearing that iOS 8 has been giving lag issues to the ipad air already. And you can still see the ipad 2 still running smoothly on 7. But is there going to be a performance improovement on these updates? I had the itouch 4g and has been lagging ever since.
Odd. Modern combat 4 runs buttery smooth on my iphone 4 which has older hardware( which won't be getting the new iOS 8 update.
I was lucky to break my iPad 2 four months after updating to iOS 7. Lucky, because the exchange iPad I got in return still had iOS 6. Compared to my friend's iPad 2 with iOS 7.12 it still runs lightning fast. Safari's tabs load much faster and I can have more than three apps running at the same time without the iPad grinding to a halt, like my friend's device. Just two examples, why I don't like 7. To make a long story short, don't update. Wait at least six months until the nastiest bugs are ironed out.
Can't even download a free game right now because it's saying there is an unknown problem once I enter my password. Ugh. Knew I should've waited awhile before downloading iOS 8
I'm having this problem as well! So annoying! So what am I supposed to do about it? Just wait for another update?
Not sure if It's iOS 8, got a similar problem, but was a server overloaded, after 4 hours, during night,it stopped to ask me password in loop, and finally start goes well..
Don't update your iPad 2... Found an interesting article about iOS 8 on iPad 2: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/09/a-slide-into-obsolescence-ios-8-on-the-ipad-2/ It seems to be even worse than 7...
FYI, Metal only applies on devices with A7+ SoC's. You wont benefit from it by updating to iOS 8. As far as I've read iOS 8 doesn't run that good on A5 (iPad 2, iPod 5, 4S) devices so you should definitely think twice about updating your device.
My iPad mini retina (an A7 device) has had almost no problems and just a few little Lags. But I'm sure they will be resolved in 8.1.
