There's so much love about for it but just not sure if it's my cup of tea. Or if I've got the time to put into it. I've read the TA review about 5 times and I still can't make my mind up. armilla Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 87 0 0 #3 armilla, Apr 5, 2015 I'd say go for it: I was put off by the fact that one can spend hundreds of hours playing MH, but even if you only played it for 6 or so hours you'd definitely get your money's worth. The touch screen controls are quite good and set a high standard. But if you're more into shorter condensed experiences or know you don't have a ton of free time to invest, maybe pass on it. It's the time thing - more than happy to pay the price for it CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,582 30 48 #7 CygnetSeven, Apr 5, 2015 Can this be enjoyed as a single player game or is multiplayer the only way to play it? VaroFN Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2011 4,270 0 36 #8 VaroFN, Apr 5, 2015 Of course it can be enjoyed as a single player game, but multiplayer is a lot more funnier. As mentioned, hundreds of hours of gameplay for your nominal investment. Xexist Well-Known Member May 6, 2010 2,440 1 0 Canada #12 Xexist, Apr 6, 2015 This is pretty much my 'if you were on a deserted island with only one game for the rest of your life' pick. Seriously. I am a cheap cheap bastard and even I think this is worth full price. Touch screen controls are very good, but this game IS much better for me with a controller Joltrabbit Well-Known Member Jul 5, 2012 669 0 0 #13 Joltrabbit, Apr 6, 2015 That's just it: I had the psp version running on vita with the camera mapped to the second stick and still couldn't get into it. Appspy has a series of funny and informative mh3 on ios videos and even they floated to mifi controllers despite praising the touch controls. Andre Well-Known Member Apr 11, 2012 3,643 2 38 #14 Andre, Apr 6, 2015 Only $10. Why can I miss it? Xexist Well-Known Member May 6, 2010 2,440 1 0 Canada #15 Xexist, Apr 6, 2015 NO game is for everyone. This isnt going to appeal to fans of button mashers or crushing candy (not saying you are in those groups). There is a lot of patience and strategy required to go far in this, and it is recommended to master more than one weapon type because some monsters are simply harder with certain weapons than others. However, this game is just nuts as far as bang for your buck, re-playability, and 'feeling of accomplishment'. I mean if you really really struggle with something and overcome it, you know you didnt just luck out but skill got you past it. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #16 Exact-Psience, Apr 6, 2015 This is my favorite game of all time. So naturally, i'm supposed to easily smack a very high recommendation for this. Unfortunately, with how much i know this game, i know this isnt for everyone. It's not a pick-up-and-play title that i can easily recommend to anyone. The game mechanic's depth is absurd. It's one of the few games that even drinking a potion requires timing and strategy. The game's pretty unforgiving in a way that you have to throw away everything you know about hack n slash and the usual action RPG games. If you cant let go of those instincts, the game will punish you hard. Really hard that it's one of the few games that isnt twitch-based, but would make you throw your controller/device out of rage. Each single swing of you weapon requires timing to pull off successfully, or you will get mauled. There is no tanking in this game. At G-rank, even with the best equipment, you will get one-hit KO'd. The game's so deep that each of the monster's body parts take different amounts of damage, but attacking even the hardest parts may even have benefits. It's also pretty unforgiving that it never holds your hand in its tutorial missions. One specific tutorial mission for gathering herbs puts a Tigrex (very difficult monster to fight) in the way, only to make you realize (it would never tell you) that if it's not your objective, it may be safer to ignore it and run away. I've seen people dismiss MHFU at first time play, for the reason that they get mauled by non-bosses and throw out a "how can you play this shit if you cant even drink a potion safely?" I've even seen a few "when can i kill a boss" thinking they have the game in the bag by rushing through the tutorial missions, and get obliterated by a Bulldrome. That said, back on the PSP version, since MHF2 (MHFU's base game, as MHFU is an expansion that added G-rank and nekoht quests and a lot more equips and items) the game has a pretty bad camera work. MHFU for iOS improved on that by by adding the camera lock-on feature added in MH3. They included that in MH3 to get more people to play since even swinging the camera around requires a bit of skill to do. Now that's been added it's improved a huge part of the game further, and allows more players to be able to handle the game. Only after these warnings to consider that i can recommend this game fully. If you can handle these things, this can easily be among the most satisfying, most engaging action RPG title you will ever play. I have spent over 3000 hours on this since series (2000 hours on the MHFU PSP, 500 hours on MHF2, and over 600 hours on the iOS version already), and im sure most of those who got into MHFU could easily go past 100 to 200 hours which is ridiculously good value for the amount you spend on the game.
