Indie developer here, announcing a sale for my iOS board game Five-O. The best way to describe Five-O is "Scrabble with numbers". Instead of words, you play sequences of up to five tiles that add up to a multiple of five, hence the name. Five-O has been in the app store for a year and a half now, but I recently added support for playing on the iPhone. Today only (5/5), Five-O is free! Hope you enjoy it! Instead of letters, the tiles are numbers, and instead of forming words, each sequence of tiles has to add up to a multiple of five, and no sequences may be longer than five tiles. "This is a great must have iPad game. And I love the fact that it really works your mind muscles. It is a very simple game but it will get you hooked." - tcgeeks.com "The price is right, and the game is fun as well as educational. I’d very much recommend it, especially if you’re looking for something the whole family can enjoy or even just for the kids." - ipadboardgames.org Features: Easy to learn rules Online Multiplayer, take turns at your leisure Pass-and-Play mode for up to 4 local players Single player mode with challenging computer opponents Hints for when you get stuck Simple controls, just touch and drag the tiles to the board How to play: Players take turns placing intersecting sequences of numbers on the board which add up to multiples of five. For example, 7-3-8-7 would be a valid sequence because it adds up to 25. The sequence 3-9-5 is not valid because it adds up to 17 which is not a multiple of five. On each turn, players may play tiles in one straight line sequence, horizontally or vertically. The first sequence must be played on the center square, and all sequences after that must intersect with tiles already in play. The score for each play is the sum of all the number tiles in sequences completed on that turn. Colored bonus squares award extra points and multipliers. At the end of each turn, players draw new tiles to replace the ones played. The game ends when a player plays all of their remaining tiles and there are no more tiles left to draw. I don't get why someone gave this a one star rating here (perhaps in error). Thanks so much for the freebie. Now to get both my brothers to download this so we can compete... Could you please leave it free until Monday? You know, it needs a bit of time until the message of the sale goes round the little world Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #5 Royce, May 5, 2012 Yeah it's really easy to accidentally tap those stars while scrolling a thread on a touchscreen. slewis7 Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 3,775 41 48 Male Retired! Houston, TX #6 slewis7, May 6, 2012 There must be a bunch of folks downloading this now because the auto match on multiplayer is getting me started immediately. This is really, really good! Thanks again, Curt! Five-O Member May 5, 2012 13 0 0 Software Engineer San Mateo, CA http://www.codevandal.com/ #7 Five-O, May 6, 2012 I think I will leave it free for another day. I expected downloads to level out faster, but last I checked it was still climbing the charts, so I'll wait and see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for your feedback! Habakuk Well-Known Member Dec 11, 2008 4,779 9 38 Vienna, Austria http://rossau.wordpress.com #11 Habakuk, May 6, 2012 Thank you very much, Five-O, in the name of all players being a bit late at the weekend and not checking enough this fine forum and other info sources. After winning three or four matches on easy I succeeded on normal in the second attempt. Very good balanced difficulty in the single player vs. computer mode. The more one plays it, the more she or he gets a feeling for it. I love that homely sense in a brain game. You go on with less maths (those easy calculations become automatic) and more strategy: Think about your next but one move. No time pressure. Something new and fresh in town. Appreciated! A must have for puzzle (Sudoku, Crossword, Scrabble) fans. Very good equipped with several multiplayer modes (not tested yet). Cool stats btw. Good luck! Thanks for making it free! iPadisGreat Well-Known Member Dec 10, 2012 2,391 0 0 #13 iPadisGreat, Feb 2, 2013 Fun game, Five-O. I tried the lite, which has only the medium difficulty AI, then bought the full version. This is like playing Scrabble without the need to memorise all those n-word lists. If the developer is lurking, are there any plans to update the AI for four player solo play? (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
