This famous turn based adventure-RPG has been re-designed from the ground up for easy touch screen gaming, no crazy keyboard commands or dozens of hard to learn gestures here! Rogue Touch is so simple a child can play, but still offers deeply strategic gameplay and literally hundreds of hours of fun and replay value! Your mission is simple: Explore the Dungeons of Doom while trying to retrieve the Amulet of Yendor... Descend into the depths, find and identify strange and powerful items... Learn how to use your pack full of equipment effectively against increasingly dangerous monsters. Few have made it out alive with the Amulet. Do you have what it takes? If you liked games such as Torneko / トルネコ / Taloon or Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (Chunsoft) you have to play Rogue Touch! Rogue is the great-grandfather of these games and spawned an entire genre of "roguelikes" over nearly 40 years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Rogue Touch is really a dream-come-true for fans of the genre. It's an impressive adaptation of a true classic." - Blake Patterson, TouchArcade.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rogue Touch features: - Random dungeon layouts and items: no two games are ever the same! - Graphical, animated actions, special monster attacks, traps, and more. - Ambient background dungeon sounds, or play your own music while gaming. - Auto-mapping feature with map overlay (including locations of doors, stairs, monsters and items)! - Streamlined inventory-item-action system for simple touch gameplay. Read scrolls, Drink potions (or throw them at your enemies!) and much more with a clear, simple interface. - Movement/Attacking is handled with classic touch control or a virtual D-Pad for single handed gaming on the go. - Dedicated on-screen buttons for both "resting" to heal your character, and "searching" to find traps and secret doors. - Auto save system records your progress upon exiting the game so you can resume exactly where you left off next time you play. - All of the monsters and items as seen in the Rogue ports of the mid 1980s, plus *many* new items! - Secret characters to discover and play as, with powerful special equipment and abilities! - Online Leaderboards with many ranking categories and statistics! As it turns out they really like roguelikes and RPGs (as if there was any doubt), but a number of people there that play Rogue Touch use an old fan translation of the original Rogue items in Japanese. Found this out from a nice guy there who ran a blog with a lot of Rogue Touch info on it! Funny world- in America you have people importing Japanese games and using fan translations, comparing symbols and stuff to figure out what is what. CommanderData Well-Known Member Patreon Indie Nov 2, 2008 1,196 9 38 http://www.ChronoSoft.com #12 CommanderData, Nov 26, 2009 I agree that Dirk Z's iNetHack is great as well, and certainly no reason why you shouldn't be downloading it too! In terms of simplicity/complexity, I think Rogue Touch straddles the middle ground. Games like 8-bit Treasures are a bit too simple, lacking any real strategy and depth. RT is in the middle, some serious strategy can come into play due to the variety of magic and equipment (and all the *secret characters*). iNetHack is the high ground, for the ultimately hardcore dungeon crawler... it's difficult to even learn all the options and interactions in NetHack without reading spoiler sites! iNetHack is almost *too* complex for my tastes, where RT is something that you can pick up for a few minutes at a time while on the go and come back to later without forgetting what in the world was happening The upcoming Sword of Fargoal will sit in the middle ground with Rogue Touch, looking forward to playing it too eev Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2009 1,958 0 0 Germany #13 eev, Nov 26, 2009 i agree, nethack is sometimes too complicated and random and in these terms your game more suited for casual gamer and for short game sessions also. But anyway there is no reason why one can not get both games. goiMot Well-Known Member Oct 21, 2009 5,079 0 0 Physician #14 goiMot, Nov 26, 2009 this one looks interesting, I'm always concern about updates to improve games and I can see that the last one was in april/09, any new one coming out soon? CommanderData Well-Known Member Patreon Indie Nov 2, 2008 1,196 9 38 http://www.ChronoSoft.com #15 CommanderData, Nov 26, 2009 Yes, the last update was back in April 2009. That update was widely regarded as a "near perfect" completion of the game, tweaking many fine details, squashing most every bug, and so on. When that update hit, Apple featured Rogue Touch in "What We're Playing" and I briefly became the #1 RPG for that month! After that update was pushed, things got rather busy for my day job as a consultant, and Rogue Touch was set on the back burner. With that said, there is at least one more cool update coming up, with features that I had started playing with months ago but never got a chance to finish! With Apple's overloaded holiday review crew, it probably will not be ready and seen until after Christmas, but there's definitely some life left in the old girl Actually there is definitely some life left in Rogue Touch, after a quick look in some app store worldwide I found something neat. Take a peek at where RT is sitting in Japan's RPG category today (thanksgiving day)... We're in some pretty big company there! (or anyone) whats the difference between all the weapons and armor? it says +2 +1 or whatever for my mace. what does that mean? same goes for armor. i checked your site, what does 2d4 mean? or AC 5. i realize these are probably noob questions but i need the help. goiMot Well-Known Member Oct 21, 2009 5,079 0 0 Physician #19 goiMot, Nov 26, 2009 thanks for the info,Downloading now! CommanderData Well-Known Member Patreon Indie Nov 2, 2008 1,196 9 38 http://www.ChronoSoft.com #20 CommanderData, Nov 26, 2009 I can understand the difficulty if you're not familiar with good old fashioned Dungeons and Dragons gaming! For weapons the first + number is a bonus to your chances of hitting a monster. The second + number is a bonus to damage you do to a monster on a successful hit. Additional damage can be added based on your strength and other factors. A statement like "2d4" means rolling two dice, each with four sides... Like old tabletop gaming. So "2d4" means you can do a random amount of damage between 2-8 points with a mace, before other magical bonuses apply. AC is armor class. The smaller the number you see next to the shield while playing, the more protected you are. This means monsters are less likely to hit you... Try to use enchant armor scrolls to get your AC negative for really good protection.
