Changing to 4 way makes quite a difference!

I also remapped the buttons for my icade. I like the two red buttons as my coin and player 1 start (icade does NOT like you to remap the red ones) the I number the top row as button 1, 2 and 3 in order and the lower row as 4, 5, and 6.

Also if you find a game you'd like to Learn a bit more about...
Like if you wanna know what kinda joy stick it has or how many buttons the game uses I recommend this site!

It's an information site not a place to get roms

That's unfortunate, I spent a lot of time at the local mall arcade in the 90's and once a year my family would go to Las Vegas which used to have gigantic arcades in every Casino. The nostalgia factor might not be there for the younger crowd but I know quite a few people in their 20's with an interest in emulating older systems, perhaps just out of curiosity.

I disagree entirely, I still love a lot of those old games and still play them to death. I'd rather play Turtles in Time or Ms. Pac-Man then any FPS released in the past 15 years. :p

Most arcade games are rock hard, for a reason, that being to keep you firing money in. With that said though they have to be fun or else people simply wouldn't play them. Arcade games are all about the challenge requiring quick reflexes and a sense of awareness at all time. I see my daughter playing the latest Spryo game on the Wii and can't help noticing the complete lack of skill required. Pick up key, open door, open chest, get weapon etc.

Arcade games are all about surviving as long as you can but the sense of beating your highest score is overwhelming, can't remember having that sense of achievement in any 32 bit console onwards game.

Me?, I'd take a game of Galaxian, Terra Cresta or Donkey Kong over Mario Galaxy any day of the week.

it's true. i hate how so many modern games employ this design mentality "everyone's a winner!" It just makes me so disinterested in playing. Sure, many games back in the day often felt quite heavy-handed, or "cheap," but most of them were never insurmountable (well, to a reasonable degree) and the feeling you got from conquering them - hell, even just making it a few stages in - was pretty palpable.

Nowadays it feels like there's this overwhelming amount of games (esp on the phone) so if something gets too hard/frustrating right away, it's too easy to just toss it and move onto the next one without looking back. I guess that's the thing I miss about "the old days," there weren't quite as many things demanding of your attention so it became a little easier to dig in & appreciate..

There's no denying the modern game's graphics are incredible but it appears to be far too easy to meander through many of them without trying too hard. Don't get me wrong some of the titles now offer the gamer an amazing experience with vast, immersive environments. The problem I have with games like these is the time it demands from the me. I simply don't have 60 hours to invest in a game and that's where Mame comes into it's own. I can go upstairs, fire up Terra Cresta on my Mame cab and batter out a couple of games in 1/2 an hour.

Battlezone, Defender, and Tempest make my list.

I like the trend towards making game content more accessible and feel Nintendo is brilliant in the design of their recent games.

Regardless, I basically agree. And from the perspective of having to keep paying to keep playing, I think it WAS an accurate analogy, actually.

Rush n attack works, I think it's a clone of "green beret" so you should load the rom sets for that in too, also a few classics (well in my opinion anyway) that you're missing from that list would be: "bad dudes vs dragon ninja" bionic commando", "commando", "e-swat" (the bootleg of this works), "flying shark", "galaga 88", "ghosts n goblins", "moonwalker" (again, the bootleg version of this works), "narc" (requires the rom to be reset after loading through the proper mame options like most Williams games but runs great after), "neo turf masters", "rainbow islands", "rastan", "robocop" (I think the bootleg works of this), "rolling thunder" (use the old version to avoid crashing on title screen), "side arms", "strider", "toki", "toobin", "Trojan", "wardner" (I currently hold the world record for this on Twin Galaxies website! True fact!), "willow" "wonderboy" "wonderboy in monster land"

A few of my favourites there ;)

Has anyone figured out how to calibrate the guns on Terminator 2? It's nearly impossible.

And is there some type of Super Mario clone on this version of MAME? :)
