hi there, i am an indie developer. currently we are working on a casual game for iPhone(and itouch of course), but on the art direction, i had great difference with my partner. since we are focusing on the US app store, we are really eager to hear from you about this issue. the game is about the main Gods from Olympia. you must be familiar with them if you are a big fan for God of War as i am. LOL. the image below is the Athena we designed. we think she looks a little too Japanese anime like...really not quite sure if she will be appealing to players from the States. if you could share us with your insightful ideas or suggestions, we will really appreciate and we guarantee we will make a game fantastic!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEC 23rd UPDATE really don't know how to give feedback on Venus and Hera...i don't like them. how you guys feel? appreciation in advance! It works. I like the devious smirk =) Doesn't look japanese at all really. You can tell from the eyes. It's either go this direction or go mature. Shrink her head, expose more cleavage etc. But if you are going casual, this should work well =P
Hi, I think this is pretty nice art and would appeal to a lot of people whether in the U.S. or not. There's only a couple of minor changes I'd make if this was my art, but really it's pretty good. (Just FYI, one of those changes would be to add some shadows on the cape, where it drapes over the shoulders and highlights on the red clasp, since it'd help it fit in more with the general art style) As far as whether it's too "anime", I think it's not really too anime. The only thing that really gives that impression are the pink cheek highlights under the eyes. Try this, get rid of those. I bet it makes a big difference (for a relatively small change) and would IMO help solidify the style. Hope this helps.

Stick with it guys. Making a game is a long, hard process. But, it can be rewarding if you stick with it. I'm sure I speak for others here in saying that we'd love to see more art. Keep us posted.
one of our teammate said the shiny eyes and black hair look too anime. LOL. we will update the Poseidon soon. hope we could have your ideas then!
