Ok. Be kind. I've been in the game business for over 20 years as an artist/designer, and I've just started to develop for the iPhone/iPod. In conjunction with Iteration Mobile, a mobile game developer in Spain, with whom I've worked in the past, we've put our toe into the "iwater". The result? iCastanet Ole! http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=305205813&mt=8 Yes, with decades of experience in games, we've come up with a virtual castanet! It's fun though, and this is where I think new developers need be at present. The economy's lousy. People are wayyyyy down. We all need a little bit of fun. I'm developing a few game designs at present. Very simple. Fun. I little bit of "off kilter" humour. And the thing I do before finally going ahead and starting these projects? I show them to people. If they laugh out loud (in a good way) at just the idea, then I think that's a good start. I want people to fork over their 99c and have a good time and laugh, if just for a little bit. iCastanet Ole! Feed your inner Flamenco! Your link is broken. This is what you want: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=305205813&mt=8
Thanks. Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear in my first post. I've edited it since. I'm an artist/designer, rather than coder. it's been a VERY long time since i coded anything. That would have been back when you plugged your computer into the telly. I'm just a shriveled prune of a Dev now. Mark www.mjonesgraphics.com
Apple should make a commercial with a band playing using nothing but iPhones and iPod touches. They have guitars, ocarinas, steel drum, piano, congas, bongos, cowbells, and probably lots of others that I missed. It is scary how good some people can play these instruments.
Now THAT's a good idea! (I'd obviously favour more Castanet, than more cowbell. ) Mark www.mjonesgraphics.com
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drgamxq6PU4&feature=channel_page i love her. btw, i tried to play on ocarina, guitars, drums or other iphone apps... nothing. and the funny part is that i can play on them in the real life (guitar, piano, drums). and this made me angry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfrONZjakRY
LMAO!!!! That's very scary too. just imagine...... long day at the office, and then the long ride back home on the bus. All is quiet. just the dull hum of the bus's engine. Then someone whips out their iphone, bring's it up to their nostril and begins a rendition of the Godfather theme tune.... Shudder... Mark www.mjonesgraphics.com
Already done! Just go to you tube and search for iBand...all musicians playing only iphones as a band. They've been on TV, done adds, etc... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwoPgnvpPQg&feature=related (The Video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6qKPUB3tro&feature=related (The TV Interview)
Nice job Mark! I like your website and graphic abilities... do you do much 2D sprite work? *walks away whistling*
Thanks! Yes, I still do sprite work, but mostly 3D these days. I'm freelance, so I pretty much do everything! Mark www.mjonesgraphics.com
As much as I appreciate the enthusiasm, and commend you on your first release (especially one focusing on a classic Spanish instrument)...this is a music app, not a game, so, y'know...wrong forum. Congrats on the first release though.
Not a game? Not a GAME!? You've obviously NOT seen me play it! LOL sorry. That did occur to me a little while ago. It is more FUN than USEFUL though, which I always think an "App", in it's strictest sense, should be. Mark
Should I move this thread? Is that even possible? Mark (game artist, and by the looks of things App artist) www.mjonesgraphics.com
The mods can move it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to report it. I mean...more looks on this forum than the non-game app forum after all.
Your app has nice graphics. It's very colorful. I have no need for it, but as a graphic designer, just wanted to comment on the looks of it.
