I always wondered how this worked, since apple doesn't really work to respond to your FAAD promotions in mind.
Hope you get that sorted out!

When doing a FAAD promotion, do you maybe have to schedule the price drop in iTC in advance, so the price change automatically kicks in at midnight for every territory in their local time?

Yes you do. On the occasions we've tried this kind of thing, I've always put the app to free the previous day, UK time, to allow plenty of time for the App Store to update around the world. However I make the change manually and set it to change NOW rather than using the date change mechanism, which doesn't always update straight away.

    Hello,

I've tried contacting FAAD and I got a company that said they charge $10,000 and $15,000 for their service. Is this correct, or are there other plans. I would appreciate a reply. I'm new to this and was thinking of using them but at $10000 I can't afford that.

Hoping to hear back. Thank you in advance and good luck with your app.

If the reply you got back is from ICS Mobile, then that's the company that runs FAAD.

Their rates do seem to vary greatly based on whether you're wanting them to promote a paid title with a price drop or an already free title with in-app purchases.

Paying 15,000 to list your app as free for a day sounds like a humungous scam. Why on Earth would you pay someone else anything remotely close to that amount for that kind of service?

I agree with you. I was quoted 3 days to promote a paid app to a smaller price from ten to fifteen grand. I never got a price for making an app free but I see a lot of FAAD apps hit the top of the free charts. But thats a lot of money to invest.

iPhone Alliance run advertising campaigns across a range of websites. It sounds like you may have been quoted for advertising to promote your FAAD listing.

Can you tell me the way to contact with FAAD? I've emailed them twice, and still no reply. How hard it could be to make a promotion on FAAD~!

Thanks. I've gotten a hold of a person at iphone alliance and they say the prices are for FAAD promotion. I've tried messages on the FAAD contact page to no avail and I even messaged the company behind FAAD(who is listed as a senior member here) and no response. They must not need the revenue.

iPhone Alliance are quoting you to "promote" your FAAD, which to me reads as advertising.

Free App A Day (ICS Mobile) will not give you a price until you submit an app to them for review, and then they will come back and confirm a price to you. We did FAAD in the first month when they were trying to get established, but at the time they were talking about asking a fee around $1000 and then a revenue share of increased sales for paid apps dropping to free. I've no idea if it's the same price now.

For free apps being featured on FAAD, we were recently told that prices "started at" a couple of thousand, but again, apps would need to be reviewed and they would come back with a price.

    I hope this helps people.
