Hey guys! I know there's about a thousand posts a day FROM beta testers, so here's my message TO beta testers.

I develop a game on the AppStore called ROLLY (link in description). I release updates, on average, bi-weekly that add more levels and bug fixes. HOWEVER, I seem to be spending A LOT of time testing my game myself. So, I was wondering if anyone wanted to test it for me. I'm not gonna take more than ten of you guys and I don't really have any room in my budget to pay for beta testers. Although, I do have an "About" page in my app and would be willing to file your names under "Beta Testers".

So, if you're interested in becoming a beta tester, I need three things from you. (PM them to me, don't post them in a reply)

    1. Device Identifier
    2. e-mail
    3. AIM

I'm pretty sure it's a number that lets him sign the app to your device, otherwise it doesn't work. I have no idea to find it though.

If you connect your iPod/iPhone to your PC/Mac and open iTunes, you see a serial number on the summary tab. If you click that, you get your UDID which is your Unique Device IDentifier.

I'll do it. I'm mobile though, so just email me, and I can send you all the info you need.

The code of the game has to be signed to your device.

That info is a bit, sensitive, so I'd delete the post, and he said to PM it to him.

What do they use your UDID besides signing it to your device?

That's it. You can't do anything with it, except that. As far as I know. I mean, you can't reregister it, so that is out. You can't do anything malicious with it, as far as I am aware.

Okay. There seems to be a bit of confusion about this. Let me explain it to you.

    WHY I NEED IT
-Each version of the app has to be signed. Each device has a different signature so I need the device identifier to know which device to assign it to. If apple didn't implement this "signing", I could distribute my app to anyone I wanted and the AppStore would be gone. This way, apple can monitor who I send it to and set a limit as to how many people I can send it to.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT?
-The only thing someone can do with your device identifier is register your device on iTunes, and unless I have your device in my hands, that's kind of useless. If you've ever synced your ipod or iphone with your computer, you've registered your device and therefore I can't.

If you feel un-safe giving me your device ID, thats fine. But if you EVER want to beta test for anyone, you're gonna have to give it up sometime.

    and btw, submissions are over

I have sent mine to at least 10 different developers for beta testing. It is crazy to be skeptical. They make sure that the beta cannot be spread on the internet, basically. I agree with that ^ post.
