(Although it's virtually impossible to lose a Survival if you just hang back and take out all the players in front of you one by one. This also means there's no one behind you to shoot at you). orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 1,997 145 63 #4 orangecan, Sep 17, 2014 It's not a bad game I didn't love it as much as the TA review did but it was worth the full price so can't help but recommend it on sale. Just got a bit repetitive for me and the controls needed a bit of tweeking. Cagey75 Well-Known Member Sep 2, 2014 134 0 0 #5 Cagey75, Sep 19, 2014 The samey dull looking tracks turn me off. CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,580 27 48 #10 CygnetSeven, Oct 3, 2014 The developer was kind enough to pass me a copy of the game and my question as to comparing it to Death Rally is like comparing an apple to a chihuahua. Totally a different animal although they share a similar concept. Where as Death Rally (a fave of mine) has you controlling the event from afar, much like a remote control car, Rattle Riders places you in the game and really gives you the feeling that you are in the race. As I made my final rush towards the finish line in my first race (finished third... barely), I actually had a quickened heart rate and shortness of breath. Awesome! Cant wait to play more, you have a new fan. Thank you! This will stay on my phone for awhile. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #11 nightc1, Oct 3, 2014 Decided since others got it free that I'd throw my buck down and buy this. That's usually what I end up loathing in racing games (or combat racing in this case). I enjoyed reading the initial thread for this game. I think as long as I'm into the genre or whatever of what cool indie devs are making, it doesn't require much thought to throw a little support their way. Even if it's just a buck, at least I can throw a review up for the game if I end up loving it. sinagog Well-Known Member Aug 15, 2014 937 0 0 #14 sinagog, Oct 3, 2014 Maybe a teensy bit of bouncy rubberiness afoot here, but I'm not exactly all that skilful a gamer and I rarely lost, even on the supposedly too difficult weapon-free races, so long as I took it smoothly around the corners. It's a cool game, worth getting, but there is undeniably something a wee bit dry at its heart. It was billed in one review as the steely, gunmetal equivalent of Mario Kart, but I think maybe it could have done with a lot more "Aaargh, where in Crom's name did that koopa shell suddenly come from?!"-style mania and unpredictability to it. I do really dig how you can hit an enemy from lightyears away, and there is the occasional little bit of a last-minute scramble that does add some energy to the proceedings. Still, I played Riptide 2 and this side by side recently, and the former was bristling with much more life. At 99c I would certainly not say no, just so long as you know what you're getting, nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #15 nightc1, Oct 4, 2014 Gave this a try tonight. It's my kind of racer. It may not indeed have a lot of charm (just a general lack of personality) but as racers go it is more than competent. Yes you can use strategies to game the AI, especially in the elimination battles (hang back and take everyone out)... But that's something I enjoy. It's not just about racing fast but also figuring out the est time to take first and aiming for all boosts to try and stay out of range long enough to hit the finish line. I like the upgrade system. It's easy to understand. Anyway for a buck, I've had more fun with this than most other combat racers on iOS. Plus there seems to be a lot of content. The bad thing about being great at racing games is its easy to see through sucky AI that only wins due to te game cheating. The worst racing game I ever bought with rubber and AI was The first GBA edition of F-Zero. You could have the best machine, hit every turn perfectly an have the too speed of all the competition and the AI could still fly past you while you were in the middle of a boost. I had to get rid of that game.
